This week, Pradeep John aka Tamil Nadu Weatherman was in the news, not because he was blogging about the weather, but because a few people sent him derogatory and abusive messages on social media. When Nivar was lurking around the Tamil Nadu coast last week, everyone, including the weather watchers, expected it to be an intense one. But fortunately, it had a soft landing near Marakkanam and caused minimal damage. While it was a reason for hurrah for many, a few netizens targetted Pradeep, saying he does not have enough qualification to observe weather and that his forecast about Nivar didn’t come true, and allegedly sent him death threats.
