Kim Hye-yoon, hailed as a rising star in the Korean entertainment industry, recently opened up in a candid interview about her role in the popular drama 'Lovely Runner', offering insights into her journey as an actress and her approach to portraying complex characters.
In the interview with Cosmopolitan, Kim Hye-yoon talked about her experience portraying Im Sol in the recently concluded drama 'Lovely Runner', which she described as akin to peeking into someone's diary.
Reflecting on her character, she shared, “‘Lovely Runner’ felt like looking into someone’s diary. It was a precious time living as Im Sol from her teens to her 30s. It was a good experience, and I feel like I learned a lot from Sol”, as quoted by Kbizoom.
Her portrayal of Im Sol, a character whose inner maturity belied her youthful appearance, presented a unique challenge that allowed Kim to explore nuanced expressions and gestures. “I’ve played various teenage characters in different works, but Sol was the first character whose inner self was in her 30s while her appearance was in her teens. So, I tried to make her 30-year-old sophistication evident by adding nuances and using expressions that teenagers might not typically use”, she disclosed.
Having honed her craft over a decade-long career, Kim Hye-yoon expressed her disciplined approach to acting, noting, “I like my strict side. I always want to do my best in everything. By not forgetting the regrets of the past and making multiple attempts to do better next time, I believe I’ve been able to grow. Honestly, I haven’t reached a point where I can say ‘this is good enough,’ but I hope that with more time and experience, I will. And if I can enjoy that moment, it would be even better”.
She mentioned, “When I’m not acting, I tend to be very relaxed, almost like choosing and focusing (laughs). I want to be strict and give my best to the acting that I love and want to excel in”. Discussing the conclusion of 'Lovely Runner,' Kim shared her thoughts on her character's journey and the ending involving Seon-jae, played by Byun Woo-seok. "If Seon-jae had ended up never remembering Sol, she would probably be crying much more than what you saw on the show, spending her days in tears. I’m really glad for the current ending", she remarked.
She also mentioned, “I'm planning to binge-watch 'Lovely Runner' in Bali”. Moreover, she expressed gratitude for the impact her work has had on viewers, sharing, “Some people told me that my work has been a source of comfort to them. I’m not an extraordinary person, but being able to positively impact someone’s life through my acting is truly meaningful. I hope to continue spreading good vibes and positive energy to many people through the ‘ingredient’ that is Kim Hye-yoon”.
