A 54-year-old British woman is in critical condition after stabbing herself repeatedly in the neck with a pair of scissors at Ibiza Airport. The incident occurred yesterday morning in front of shocked tourists, just outside a chemist's shop where she had purchased the scissors.
The woman was initially described as being in a "serious but stable" condition when she was rushed to Can Misses Hospital, but her condition has since worsened, and she is now in the intensive care unit.
Witnesses reported seeing blood all over the floor of the busy airport terminal. Police were on the scene almost immediately and are currently investigating the incident. It is unclear if the woman was alone or with others at the time, what led her to harm herself, or if she was about to board a flight.
A worker at the chemist's shop attempted to intervene but found it difficult due to the woman's size. Another witness described the scene, stating, "There were other people in the chemist's at the time. There was blood all over the floor outside before airport workers arrived to clean it once the woman had been taken away in an ambulance."
