Scientists trial new robotic thumb controlled by toes

Researchers at the University of Cambridge are hoping a new robotic thumb could help people who may only have the use of one arm.

The 'third thumb' can be strapped to the wrist opposite a natural thumb and controlled by a wireless sensor.

The idea is to make everyday tasks easier for those who need it, including peeling a banana with one hand, or opening a bottle of water.
