    NSS Orientation

    Bennett University in each academic year follows the Government of India’s motto ‘Education through service’ and streamlines its NSS programmes by conducting various voluntary community service.

    NSS formation

    • Bennett University’s students are seamlessly working towards making National service Scheme (NSS) a successful unit. 
    • NSS started operating in Bennett University with an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm and after the rigorous process of 2 Units formation, the 200 volunteers were called for an offline orientation on the Campus. 
    • All the volunteers were assigned to one of the two units created, and each unit had student leaders made responsible for them. 

    Aims & Objectives of NSS:

    • To understand the community
    • To develop a sense of social and civil responsibility among students
    • To utilize one’s knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
    • To uplift the knowledge and skills of the underprivileged class
    • To develop the competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities
    • To acquire leadership qualities and a democratic attitude
    • To develop the capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters

    • Volunteers who do an extraordinary job get an opportunity to receive the Indira Gandhi NSS Award at the National Level.

    Highlights of community services

    Plantation Drive

    • Keeping social and environmental welfare in mind, the plantation drive gave an extra edge and enthusiasm to students when they were given a neglected piece of land within the university premise. 
    • Two units of students conducted the plantation drive wherein they planted more than 150 flower plants and fruit trees. 
    • The entire area is, and will continue to be, maintained by both the units in the form of watering, adding manure, keeping note of damages, tracking the plant growth and much more.

    Village Visit

    NSS BU along with the Legal Aid Cell of varsity conducted village visit in Dabra, Greater Noida with the purpose of surveying the citizens’ awareness about government schemes that are beneficial for them. Here, villagers were informed about these schemes and legal aids that they can take advantage of. 

    • Majorly, the villagers were informed regarding two mobile applications – Tele Law and Nyay Bandhu, through which they can get free-legal support. 
    • Other information included details of the mediation process (a form of alternate dispute resolution ADR) can be beneficial to them and even for the Indian judiciary in dealing with the pendency of cases. 

    Fire Safety Training

    • NSS BU camp organized fire safety training to learn and remain accustomed in operating fire safety equipment namely, extinguishers, cylinders, fire hoses. 
    • The training was made open to all to learn the effectiveness of fire safety in a sprawling campus. 

    Cleanliness drive

    Introducing a widespread initiative Swachh Bharat Abhiyan once again, the NSS unit conducted a cleanliness drive in the university and in nearby villages too. 

    • The main goals behind this were to clean the surroundings and spread awareness about the importance of playing our part in making this happen. 
    • Especially, in the villages in vicinity, BU NSS teams’ motive was also to promote Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which could imbibe positive change in the society

    Drug Abuse workshop

    In today’s world, drug abuse among university students is most vexing and pervasive problem. This devastating issue is ruining all intelligence among students. To tackle the menace, and impart a strong message, NSS champions organised a talk. 

    • The aim of the talk was to make the participants aware of the innumerable consequences of drug consumption and tips to overcome addiction.
    • BU believes that educating the youth is the biggest stepping stone to address the issue.

    Vaginal Health Workshop

    • When it comes to women’s health and hygiene, especially Vaginal health, it remains insufficiently recognised problem in India. 
    • To dispel myths, NSS champions of BU organised a session on feminine hygiene practices across all ages to prevent from diseases.
