    About BAFTW Programme:

    The BA Film, TV and Web Series programme offered by the Times School of Media is a 3+1-year degree programme. Students are awarded the BA Film, TV and Web Series Degree on successful completion of all compulsory courses that total 120 credits. They also have the option to earn an Honours degree by completing a group of Honours courses that total 30 credits.

    The curriculum has been designed keeping in mind the requirements of the Choice Based Credit System. It has been curated by the top Editors of the Times Group and its focus is to provide skill-based education. The students can choose their specialisation track by picking courses of their interest from the electives basket.

    The curriculum can be grouped under five heads or five well-defined layers which shape the learning, the knowledge and personality of a student as he/she proceeds from semester to semester. These five layers are:

Curriculum Development:The BA Film, Television & Webseries curriculum has been developed under the supervision of Junglee Pictures, the film production and distribution company of the Times Group. The other companies engaged in the development of the curriculum related to film publicity, social media marketing and PR and its subsequent avenues are:

      2. Teaching Support: Many BAFTW courses are taught by the senior managers of the Times Group. These courses are unique because they have been developed entirely by Times Group and reflect the latest industry practices. These courses are:

    • Student Work

      As part of the curriculum, students will create short films, produce television programs, create podcasts, video stories, infographics, photo-and video essays, documentaries, and more. The student work includes:

      1. Visual Diary: Students use their observation to create content that uses visuals in the form of illustrations / photographs etc and that documents daily activity.
      2. No Dialogue Film : Students make two films without using dialogue.
      3. Scriptwriting: Short and long format scripts will be compiled as a written dossier to build the writing skills associated with film and fiction based formats
      4. Music Video: Create a two to three minute music video.
      5. Multimedia Content: In the 3rd semester, the students work on multimedia storytelling and social media in short narrative form.
      6. Film Festival: In Semester IV the students will work with the Faculty to organise a Film Festival.
      7. Mobile filmmaking : One to three minute films shot and edited on mobile phones for being published on the student website from 3rd semester onwards.
      8. Web Series: Produce three episodes of 15 minutes each.
      9. Documentaries: 20-30 minute Documentaries are made in the 4th semester.
      10. Final degree film : Students will produce 60 mn fiction film as a group exercise which will be part of the final portfolio.

    Studios, Labs and Software

    • Television Studio

      Built under the guidance of Times Now, the Television Studio is equipped with a three-camera setup and a state-of-the-art production control room (PCR). The PCR is equipped with a Vision Mixer to handle a three-camera feed, an Apple Mac for editing, and four LED screens for output. The Studio also has a teleprompter to help students anchor news bulletins and shows.

    • Radio Studio

      The Radio Studio, built with the help of Radio Mirchi, is an acoustically designed and fully equipped studio that provides students ample space and atmosphere for Radio and audio production. The studio space consists of a recording room and a control room. The control room is equipped with a Multi-Channel Mixing Console, Speakers, Talkback, and Cubase recording software for recording, mixing, and monitoring sound. The Radio production facilities enable students to learn the art of recording and mixing sounds and voice-over techniques.

    • MoJo Lab

      Mobile-first lab used by students to create multimedia content for smartphone users.

    • iMac and Windows Labs

      The school has two iMac labs and one Windows PCs labs. Each lab has 30 computers with the required software installed.

    Eligibility

    Passed XII standard from any recognised Education Board with minimum 60% marks (Class XII Best of 3 subjects score) and English as compulsory subject OR IB Board with minimum score of 24

    Selection will be based on Class XII Best of 3 subjects score (comprising of English as compulsory subject and any other two subjects with highest score)
