    The Times School of Media being one of the best Colleges in India for Mass Communications has a Digital First approach which has been set up by The Times of India Group to impart hands-on training on high-end equipment and exposure to new age AI tools which equips students to meet the current demands of the media industry.       Co-Design

      India’s largest media conglomerate, the Times Group, has developed the Times School of Media as the premier institution in Asia which boasts of skill- based curriculum, exposure to latest technologies, and industry-relevant programs.

      1. Curriculum Development:

      • As a best college in India for Mass Communications, media professionals from The Times Group play an important role in defining the curriculum of the different programs run by the Times School of Media.
      • The curriculum developed by the faculty members is reviewed, discussed, and suggestions are incorporated in the final curriculum. The goal is to make the students industry ready.

      2. Curriculum Updation:

      • The curriculum is reviewed regularly by the Board of Studies of the Times School of Media which includes senior editors and media mangers of The Times Group to upkeep the industry-aligned BA programmes in Mass Communication and Film, TV, Web Series along with the MA programme in Mass Communication.
      • The members on the Board of Studies are drawn from various teams like TV, Radio, Internet, OTT, Films, Advertising, and Marketing. Faculty and student feedback also plays an essential role in bringing changes to the curriculum. This is important to stay in tune with the needs of the industry.

      Infrastructure:

      The infrastructure of the Times School of Media has been built under the guidance of Times Group professionals. Times Now engineers built the Television Studio while the Radio Studio was built with the help of Radio Mirchi engineers.

      Students get a flavour of the industry by getting hands-on experience with the Times Group’s state-of-the-art Content Management System. This is the same application used by the Times Group Editors in running the largest media network in India.

      • BU Live: News bulletins based on campus events produced in the TSOM studio.
      • Podcasts: Students produce a range of programs using the audio studio.
      • Graphics and Animation: Making visual illustrations using open-source software.
      • MoJo Videos: Shoot and edit videos on smartphones.
      • Documentaries: Ideation and creation of short films with indoor/outdoor shoots.
      • Photo-Features: Theme-based photo essays produced with DSLR cameras and smartphones.
      • Live Blogs/ Twitter (X) reports: Work on live blogs and real-time Twitter (X) reports.
      • Specialisation Project: Creating multimedia stories, SEO, and marketing campaigns.

    Studios, Labs and Software

    • Television Studio

      Built under the guidance of Times Now, the Television Studio is equipped with a three-camera setup and a state-of-the-art production control room (PCR). The PCR is equipped with a Vision Mixer to handle a three-camera feed, an Apple Mac for editing, and four LED screens for output. The Studio also has a teleprompter to help students anchor news bulletins and shows.
    • Radio Studio

      The Radio Studio, built with the help of Radio Mirchi, is an acoustically designed and fully equipped studio that provides students ample space and atmosphere for Radio production. The studio space consists of a recording room and a control room. The control room is equipped with a Multi-Channel Mixing Console, Speakers, Talkback, and Cubase recording software for recording, mixing, and monitoring sound. The Radio production facilities enable students to learn the art of recording and mixing sounds and voice-over techniques
    • MoJo Lab

      Mobile-first lab used by students to create multimedia content for smartphone users.
    • iMac and Windows Labs

      The school has two iMac labs and one Windows PCs labs. Each lab has 30 computers with the required software installed.

    Visiting Professor

    Mr. Siddhartha Dubey

    Siddhartha spent several decades as a working journalist in newsrooms in New York City, London, Delhi, Singapore, and Mumbai. Siddhartha is based in Evanston, Illinois in the Midwest of the United States. He has taught at Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and at Ashoka University.
