RCC Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT) a premiere engineering college in Kolkata

RCC Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT) is one of the premiere and oldest engineering colleges in Kolkata run by a Society of Higher Education Dept., Govt. of West Bengal. Being established in 1999 as a joint venture of the Ministry of IT, Govt. of India and Higher Education Dept., Govt. of West Bengal, the institution is maintaining the tradition of imparting quality education in IT and allied areas and consistently producing graduates who are successfully placed in the ICT industry.  

The State has made significant contribution in terms of land and fund for development of the institute since inception. Situated in a well-connected location of mega-metro Kolkata, spread on a sprawling 4.63 acres of land leased to the college by the State Govt., RCCIIT has got robust academic infrastructure including very good lab facilities. There are around 100 odd faculty members in different cadres namely, Assistant Professors at entry level, senior scale and selection grade, Associate Professors and Professors essentially fulfilling AICTE criteria and selected through open advertisements and promoted as per AICTE norms. State Govt. pay structure for the faculty and staff and ample scope for their research and self-development ensures dedicated service of the faculty and staff for the students.

RCCIIT has two adjacent campuses housing six degree offering and two supporting departments catering to more than 2000 students. Beautiful green and eco-friendly ambience and the culture of traditional academic practices, high ethical standard and strong teacher-student bonding create the perfect settings that help students’ all-round development while achieving academic and creative excellence. The UG programs offered by the institute are B.Tech in CSE, IT, ECE, EE, CSE (AI & ML) and also BCA and B.Sc (CS). The PG programs include M.Tech in CSE, CSE (AI), Microelectronics & VLSI and also MCA. Students are admitted through WBJEE, JEE Main, CET, GATE, PGET and WBJECA. 

The four UG programs namely, B.Tech in CSE, IT, ECE and EE are NBA accredited while the institute as a whole is NAAC accredited having earned B++ grade in first cycle. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) ensures quality standards of different activities and continuous improvement of the students, faculty and staff. Owing to NAAC and NBA accreditation, the institute has been conferred with Academic Autonomy from AY 2024-25. As a result, RCCIIT gets the academic flexibility to further enrich its program curriculum by adding industry-designed courses on emerging technologies like AI-ML, Cybersecurity, Data Science, semiconductor, smart grid, renewable energy etc. and by introducing effective pedagogical and assessment techniques and technology-enabled learning platforms. 

RCCIIT, already known for impressive placement records of its students, has now made industry-institute partnership even more effective in terms of providing industry-led training and internship on cutting-edge technologies/platforms like AI, Gen-AI, Data Science, VLSI, EDA, Blockchain, Salesforce, AWS, PEGA, MuleSoft etc. to the students. Recent collaborations with Intel, NASSCOM, Infosys, Exavalu, Maven Sillicon and SETU are strong steps in that direction. The Ministry of Electronics & IT, Govt. of India is financially supporting the endeavour of the institution in offering courses on few in-demand technologies like Cloud, Drone, Deep Learning, WSN (IoT), SolidWorks-SolidCAM, Enterprise Computing, Mobile & Web Technology, Control System, Computer Vision designed and delivered by the experts from academia (IIT, JU) and industry (IBM, Accenture, TCS, Pelf) to enhance the employability of the graduates.        

Being a 25 year’s college RCCIIT has a rich Alumni base of engineers and MCAs working in MNCs like IBM, TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, PwC, Accenture, Capgemini, Wipro, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Oracle among others, in PSUs like DRDO, ISRO, BSNL etc. and also as faculty members/researcher in several Indian and abroad Universities. The institution has set up a Centre for Higher Studies to encourage and support students aspiring for higher studies namely, M.Tech, MS, MBA, PGDM in premiere institutions/Universities within India and abroad. Besides academics and industry readiness programs RCCIIT emphasizes on all round development of students through different co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. It has an active NSS Cell and student clubs namely, RccTechz (coding club), Google Developer Student Club (GDSC), Unstop Igniters Club, Art & Cultural Club and RCCTalkies (journalism club) with one Faculty Advisor monitoring the activities of each club. The Student Welfare Committee (SWC) with members elected by the students organizes big annual events like the cultural fest Regalia, sports fest Game of Thrones and tech fest Techtrix.  

RCCIIT is committed to serve the society in its limited capacity. Through NSS outreach program it is helping the orphans and the under-privileged children of the locality as well as remote villages in Sunderban. Through Connect-2-School program it is reaching to many schools for creating awareness for engineering disciplines and emerging technologies like AI and Robotics. Recently it has launched an AI capacity building program for schools for empowering students with future skills. The program is funded by MeitY, Govt. of India and technically supported by Intel.
