CUET-UG 2024: Over 75% attendance registered on first day, more details inside

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the Common University Entrance Test (CUET- UG) - 2024 on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 across India except for 258 centres in Delhi. The test was conducted for Chemistry, Biology, English and General Tests.

“The first day of CUET-UG went off successfully across India. The test was conducted for Chemistry, Biology, English and General Tests all over India except 258 centres in Delhi. Today, the total number of centres used across India is 2157,” M Jagadish Kumar, chairman UGC told Education Times.

As many as 643752 candidates appeared for Chemistry in 1640 centres, 363067 candidates for Biology test in 1368 centres, 862209 candidates for English in 2077 centres and 721986 candidates took General Tests in 1892 centres.

According to UGC, since students write multiple tests, the above is equivalent to handling 25,91,014 students on a single day. This constitutes 44.71% of the total scheduled slots for students registered in pen-and-paper mode. The attendance was more than 75% on the first day.

“This is a landmark achievement by NTA in conducting CUET-UG in such large numbers on a single day, and NTA deserves kudos for their meticulous planning and for making sure that the test today went off well today at such large scale in pen and paper mode,” added Kumar.

The tests in four papers scheduled in 258 centres in Delhi on May 15 has been postponed to May 29. This postponement was necessitated due to some logistical issues beyond the control of NTA. Fresh admit cards will be issued to the students in Delhi.

The NTA is will be conducting the CUET UG 2024 exam from May 15 to 18. A total of 13.4 lakh students will be taking the exam which will be conducted hybrid mode this year. The CUET exam will take place in 379 cities, including 26 locations outside India. The exam, comprising 15 subjects, will be administered in the OMR format in several exam centres.
