AICTE invites applications from faculty members for its newly launched quality improvement certifica
For the academic development of faculty members belonging to the core engineering disciplines, the AICTE has recently launched and has invited applications from the faculty members of AICTE-approved institutions to get certification in emerging areas. The postgraduate certificate programme known as the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) will be conducted at the host institutes or QIP centres approved for conducting the certificate programme for free.
The certification programme will be provided in emerging areas such as AI/ML/Data Science/Data Analytics, Augmented (AR) / Mixed (MR) / Virtual Realities (VR) / Cyber Physical Systems, IoT and Drone Technology, Intelligent Transport Systems, Robotics, 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing. Any regular or permanent faculty members of degree or diploma-level institutes, belonging to core engineering disciplines, and having teaching experience of a minimum of five years at the graduate or diploma level are eligible to apply for the QIP PG certificate programme. No fee shall be levied from a maximum of 50 faculty members getting enrolled for the course in any of the host institutions.
The duration of the certificate programme shall be six months in hybrid mode. The certificate programme will include awareness, expertise, and application elements. Moreover, a maximum of six credits may be taken through the NPTEL course by candidates during the QIP-PG certification course.
After completion of the QIP-PG certification courses, the candidates will receive an evaluation report and the QIP-PG certificate from the host institutions. The programme will also partner with industry experts, exposing teachers to the latest industry needs and trends. This initiative aims to enhance the teaching methods of engineering and technical education faculty, ultimately providing high-quality education to students.
AICTE with the help of this programme will train faculty members of mechanical, civil, electrical and electronics, chemical and other core engineering disciplines. These emerging technologies will enable them to impart effective teaching to the students enrolled in courses in emerging areas.
Prof TG Sitharam, chairman, AICTE says, “The launch of the 'AICTE-QIP-PG certificate programme in emerging areas signifies a commitment to enhancing the academic development of faculty members in the core engineering disciplines. This initiative is crucial as emerging areas in engineering constantly evolve, requiring educators to stay updated with the latest advancements. By providing a structured certificate programme, AICTE aims to equip faculty members with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively teach students. This will not only benefit faculty members by enhancing their expertise but will also contribute to the overall quality of engineering education in the country.”
