‘The revised GST on sanitary pads will make girls feel that their needs are respected’
Finance Minister Piyush Goyal recently announced that Sanitary napkins will be exempt from GST. After receiving serious criticism from various quarters, the tax on sanitary napkin has finally been removed.

Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, who has used the Miss World platform to highlight the need for increased menstrual hygiene awareness in India, was extremely happy to hear the news.

“When a girl understands that her body is a gift and doesn’t limit her in any way is when she will truly feel empowered. The revised GST on sanitary pads will surely make more girls feel that their needs are respected and menstruation doesn’t limit them in any way.” said Manushi Chhillar.

Manushi Chhillar Beauty with a Purpose project on Menstrual Hygiene has reached an international level and the stunning lady is travelling across the globe to promote Menstrual Hygiene. She recently visited South Africa for installing the first machine to manufacture biodegradable, compostable and low cost sanitary pads in former president Nelson Mandela's birthplace Mvezo on the occasion of his 100th birthday.

The installation ceremony was a huge success and Manushi Chhillar was congratulated by South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa for successfully opening South Africa's first biodegradable sanitary pad manufacturing plant.
