Former beauty queen indicted for toddler's murder amid shocking abuse allegations
A former beauty queen finds herself ensnared in a harrowing scandal as a grand jury indictment reveals horrifying allegations against her. Trinity Poague, just 18 years old and a former pageant winner and student from Georgia, stands accused of the brutal murder of an 18-month-old boy, Jaxton Drew, whose legal name was Romeo Angeles.

Poague was apprehended in January, facing multiple charges, including murder and battery, following the tragic death of the toddler. The Georgia Southwestern State University Police Department, where Poague was a student, sought assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to delve into the circumstances surrounding Jaxton's death. The boy was rushed to a hospital in Americus but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The indictment, made public last month by Sumter County authorities, paints a gruesome picture of the alleged abuse. It details severe disfigurement to Jaxton's liver, catastrophic brain damage, and extensive trauma to his head and torso. Poague now faces one count of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated battery, and one count of cruelty to children.

Witnesses report that Poague was romantically involved with Jaxton's father at the time of the incident. On the fateful day, the cries of a child echoed through Poague's college dorm, only to end abruptly, leaving students like Lilly Waterman in a state of shock and confusion.

Released on a $75,000 bond in February, Poague was stripped of her 'Miss Donalsonville' title. Despite being allowed to leave the Americus area, she is required to wear an ankle monitor, ensuring her movements are closely monitored. This tragic case continues to unfold, casting a dark shadow over the former beauty queen's once-promising future.
