Sports is being dominated by strong and resilient women at a global level as they break barriers and win accolades left, right, and centre. For the first time, five such Indian women have created history by securing a spot in the International Table Tennis Federation's (ITTF) top 100 women's singles list. These women are not afraid to forge their names in history textbooks and represent the country at such heights.

At the WTT Contender Lagos 2024, Sreeja Akula became the first Indian to secure the title by defeating China's Ding Yijie with a stunning score of 4-1. This win gave her a 19-place jump and placed her at a career-high ranking of World No. 24.
India’s No. 2 table tennis player is Olympian Manika Batra, who has been ranked 29 on the latest ITTF list. In May 2024, Manika was the first Indian woman to take a position in the top 25 players on the list.

Sutirtha Mukherjee, on the other hand, climbed up an incredible 50 places and took the ranking of World No. 75. This is her highest ITTF rank in her career. At the WTT Contender Lagos, she won against World No. 8 Shin Yu-bin from South Korea 3-2.
Taking place at World No. 86 on the ITTF index, Yashaswini Ghorpade has gone up 13 places since the last ranking in May 2024. She has only just graduated from the U-19 squad, which makes her the youngest on this list and full of potential.
The next career-high-ranking scorer is Ayhika Mukherjee, who has secured her position at world No. 92 in the ITTF index. In the global rankings for women's singles, she moved up 48 spots. In the WTT Team Championships 2022, she defeated World No. 1 Sun Yingsha.
