Creating a safer world through the prevention of infection.
About us
The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is the leading professional association for infection preventionists (IPs) with more than 15,000 members. Our mission is to create a safer world through the prevention of infection. This is achieved by the provision of better care to promote better health at a lower cost. Many IPs are employed within healthcare institutions and also serve as educators, researchers, consultants, and clinical scientists. The majority of APIC members are affiliated with acute care settings. An increasing number practice in ambulatory and outpatient services where they direct programs that protect patients and personnel from HAIs. Members are also involved in long-term care, home health, and other practice settings where infection prevention and control is an increasing area of responsibility for nurses and other healthcare personnel.

Have you left the field of #IPC? Know someone who has? Have you been an IP in your current role for more than 5 years? If so, APIC would love to hear from you. APIC is evaluating the high turnover rate in the field of Infection Prevention. APIC is forming focus groups to better understand reasons why IPs have: (1) left the field altogether (2) moved to a different opportunity within the IP field (3) remained in your current role for over 5 years. We would love to hear from you and your friends, if you have transitioned to a new role within infection prevention in the last 3 years, stayed in your current role for over 5 years, or if you know someone who has left the field entirely. Help APIC understand the driving forces behind the high attrition rate of infection prevention: https://bit.ly/3zbNKGU #PublicHealth #Nursing #InfectionPrevention #InfectionPreventionist #PatientSafety #Epidemiology #LTC #Healthcare

APIC and IPAC Canada partnered on the creation of a new resource to help healthcare professionals work through ethical issues that arise in infection prevention and control (IPC) and assist in making complex decisions. The Ethical Infection Prevention and Control (EIPAC) Decision-Making Framework illustrates how to identify and apply relevant, ethical decision-making principles to the practice of IPC. The new toolkit outlines a step-by-step process for tackling difficult situations and provides a set of scenarios to illustrate how the framework can be applied. Read more: https://lnkd.in/extCc8gQ
