NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security | Gender, Peace and Security and Conflict mediation expert | International speaker | Mentor | Lecturer
I am beyond thrilled to announce that #WPS will be in the spotlight at the upcoming NATO Summit in Washington, D.C. next week! On Tuesday, July 9th, from 9:30 to 10:50 AM ET, I will co-host a high-level roundtable titled “Turning Vision into Action: Women, Peace, and Security Across the Alliance” with Ambassador-at-Large for the U.S. Department of State - Secretary's Office of Global Women's Issues Dr. Geeta Rao Gupta. We will discuss: ✅ NATO’s new Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Policy and its planned implementation across three core tasks, with a focus on the Alliance’s support to #Ukraine. ✅ Addressing emerging threats, particularly advances in technology and Artificial Intelligence. ✅ Prevention and protection of conflict-related sexual violence and all forms of gender-based violence in areas of war, conflict, and crisis, including countering gendered disinformation and misinformation, and the use of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) in preventing women’s meaningful participation in peace, political, and security-related processes. The roundtable will be followed by a WPS reception hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. On Thursday, July 11th, from 6:05 to 6:30 PM ET, there will be a spotlight moment on WPS during the #NATOPublicForum. All events will be livestreamed, and I will post the link to register and follow the conversation soon.
