The Cannes Can: Diversity Collective (CC:DC) was conceptualized in 2017 due to the continued conversation regarding the lack of diversity in the Advertising/Marketing Industry. For decades there have been a plethora of industry leaders that have expressed concern regarding this issue.
The Cannes Can: Diversity Collective is moving beyond concern to creation, by creating the opportunity for previously absent faces of color and underrepresented communities to be represented at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. CC:DC is creating the opportunity for industry leaders to move beyond concern to creative encounters. Therefore, CC:DC is the conduit by which the concern can be eradicated by developing a synergistic opportunity and atmosphere of exposure, networking and job creation
Creativity Without Limits
I am convinced that creativity knows no bounds. Neither race, nor age, nor gender are limitations when it comes to creativity. On the contrary, these differences are precisely what enhance and enrich the creative process.
Each of us brings a unique perspective based on our personal, cultural, and social experiences. This diversity of thoughts and approaches is what makes ideas flourish in innovative and surprising ways. At CC:DC, we celebrate these differences because we know they are the key to achieving truly inclusive and transformative creativity.
By joining forces with people from different backgrounds and experiences, we expand our horizons and discover new ways of seeing the world. This not only improves the quality of our creative work but also allows us to connect with more diverse and global audiences.
It is vital to recognize and value the contributions of everyone, regardless of their race, age, or gender. At CC:DC, we are committed to promoting a space where every voice is heard and every talent is recognized. Together, we are building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive creative industry where everyone has the opportunity to shine.
Creativity knows no limits. Let's celebrate diversity and let every story, every perspective, and every voice enrich the creative world we live in.

APOLOGIES, A BIT LATE TO THE CANNES POSTS PARTY 🫠🎉
There was was so much to unpack. Maybe one thing that I didn't get around to mentioning, that was a big take away for me, was the celebrating.
Advertising can be ruthlessly competitive, but it felt like when Cannes had come around, the work had all been done, the submissions had been made, and it was a time to just celebrate each other.
I used to see Cannes as an award show, but being amongst the festivities it was a celebration of not just creativity, but also difference, culture, rule-breakers, young blood, old blood, game-changers, brands, clients, DE&I, etc.
Big thank you to Cannes Can: Diversity Collective and Cannes Lions School for shaping my experience and providing such an enriching opportunity.

Last week I was honored to speak on my first two Cannes panels! The topic of “Diversity in an AI Driven World” must be elevated. So many DEI leaders - and companies are not properly learning or integrating DEI into their LLM or GenAI models.
This convo was incredible - and I’d like to thank Omnicom PR Group and the Cannes Can: Diversity Collective - Adrianne for inviting me to speak - as well as Chris, Ralph, and Joseph for our time invested.
I also want to take this moment to openly offer to help support - and speak on this area of DEI and AI. If you are planning to have a confernece, webinar or session in advertising, media or marketing - you can not miss out on covering this topic.
If you have not yet experienced the power of Jodie AI: Inclusive AI for Business please reach out to me - for an access code to try it out.

How can we get a seat at the table if we're not even in the room?
Well, this past week, Adrianne C. Smith and the Cannes Can: Diversity Collective ensured that we were not only in the room but actively participating by inviting 25 creative professionals from the marketing, illustration, advertising, and film industries to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
The festival was a whirlwind of inspirational speakers, one-of-a-kind activations, and countless moments for unexpected connections and fun. From discussions on the ethical implications of AI to the importance of authentic representation in media, the festival covered a wide range of critical topics that were not just informative but also inspiring, encouraging us to think bigger and bolder.
A huge thank you to CC:DC for making this transformative week possible. Special gratitude to Adrianne C. Smith for her dedication to creating opportunities for diverse voices. And to my fellow cohort members, y'all are magic and I can’t wait to see what big things the future has in store for each and every one of you.
Together, we are not just getting in the room; we are shaping the future of creativity.
