There's a new spot where you can walk down memory lane to see the best of summer in Iowa for the past 4 decades. It was our honor today to install a new display at the Iowa State Fair Museum showing the many times that the Iowa State Fair and Iowa Lottery have worked together to amp up the fun for fairgoers. Did you know the very first lottery tickets in Iowa were sold at the State Fair? That the Powerball drawing was once held live on the Grand Concourse? That proceeds raised by the Iowa Lottery helped renovate and save the iconic State Fair Grandstand? It's all chronicled in the new display! You'll find the State Fair Museum in the Heritage Village area of the Fairgrounds, up by Pioneer Hall. Iowa, summer looks good on you!

As we're gathering the details to announce the Iowa Lottery's latest annual results, here is an important early look. What a moment this weekend was for Iowa! NASCAR at the Iowa Speedway showcased Midwest short-track racing and our state did the rest, looking absolutely incredible in the national footage from the Speedway! The Iowa Lottery was highlighted in the NASCAR on NBC telecast. As the footage shows, we’re giving Powerball® players a chance to go to the NASCAR Championship Weekend in November. One of our players may even get to be in the NASCAR Powerball Playoff and compete for the $1 million top prize. The deadline to enter here in Iowa is tomorrow morning! What an incredible perspective from this moment to look back on our work! The Iowa Lottery's marketing efforts have again been recognized at the Telly Awards. With more than 12,000 entries globally, these annual awards showcase the best messaging created within television and across video for all screens. Three of the Iowa Lottery's recent spots in conjunction with Strategic America, our creative agency, won awards! We received a Gold Telly for the TV spot for our Million Dollar Holiday promotion, and a Silver Telly for our Kickoff to Kinnick and Countdown to Carver promotion videos entered together as a campaign. Yesterday, we had a series of "why we do this" moments. Thank you to Commandant Todd Jacobus and Legislative Liaison Mike Olson for inviting us to tour the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown! We got to meet our state's veterans and hear their stories. We saw photos, we held medals, we learned history, we shared our appreciation. And along the way, we were able to tell them about the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund that helps our state's veterans and their families. A portion of the money raised from the sale of each lottery ticket in Iowa goes directly to the Veterans Trust Fund to help with real-world needs like vision, dental and hearing assistance; individual and family counseling; emergency vehicle and housing repair; and unemployment assistance. Since 2008, the Iowa Lottery has raised nearly $40 million for the Veterans Trust Fund. Why do we do what we do? Because it makes a difference right here in Iowa. You’ll often hear us say that we’re not just a lottery, we’re the IOWA Lottery. And our latest initiative shows that Iowa pride. The Iowa Lottery and the Iowa State Fair are partnering on a new scratch game and promotion that will lead up to a live game show on opening day of the 2024 Iowa State Fair. Tickets in the $5 “Iowa State Fair” game will be available statewide by Friday. Players can win instant prizes of up to $50,000. And nonwinning tickets in the game can be entered into the lottery’s Fair Fever promotion for a chance to win concert prize packages for the Iowa State Fair Grandstand or a spot on the game show. During the Aug. 8 game show on the Fairgrounds Grand Concourse, 20 contestants will each win at least $10,000. And the final contestant that day will have a chance at a prize of up to $5 million.
