Abstract

The reference center CERVCO (for rare diseases of the blood vessels in the brain and eye) is involved in the management of various rare vascular diseases of the brain and retina. Any progress made in recent years is variable and depends on the disease concerned. The reference center is also heavily involved in many of the research activities that have taken place over the past 5 years to improve the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases, but the challenges for the future are different for each of them. The reference center now needs simplified assessment tools, the formal recognition of a network of medical 'experts', and adaptation of its technical and human resources to achieve its objectives.
