$1 million yacht full of fireworks sinks after explosive blaze in California Marina

A luxury yacht named ‘The Admiral,’ valued at nearly $1 million, caught fire while docked in the 800-acre marina, located 5 miles south of Santa Monica burst into flames before sinking in Marina del Rey, California, on Wednesday night, as reported by The New York Post.
The 100-foot yacht, loaded with fireworks and 1,000 rounds of ammunition, ignited a massive fire.Leading to a swift response from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
Despite the efforts to extinguish the fire, the twin-diesel-engine yacht sank just two hours after the fire began.
Two people on board managed to escape without injury.
Complicating the firefighting efforts was a propane source on board the yacht, which added fuel to the fire. The LAFD set up floating barriers to prevent debris and diesel fuel from polluting the marina waters. As the yacht began listing, officials evacuated the dock.
Eyewitnesses captured footage of fireworks exploding from the yacht as thick black smoke filled the air. Residents nearby feared that the fire would spread to other boats docked in the area.
“I saw it fully engulfed in flames, heard an explosion, and saw fireworks going off. It was terrifying,” said local resident Lynn Rose.
The yacht sank at around 10:30 pm, although the fire continued to burn below deck. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Admiral, built in 1986 by Broward Marine, was last listed for sale in 2018 for $985,000. It featured four cabins, including a master suite, and could host 10 guests and three crew members.
The identity of the yacht’s owner has not yet been disclosed.
