For the Media

The Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) Office of Communications oversees all media relations for the medical center. It manages day-to-day media relations for CUIMC’s medical and dental schools, the Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons and the College of Dental Medicine, and for the faculty of the biomedical departments of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Matters pertaining to patients at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital are handled by NYP’s Office of Public Affairs.

The Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University School of Nursing, and Department of Psychiatry maintain separate communications offices, which manage their day-to-day media relations while working closely with CUIMC’s Office of Communications.

Reporters, photographers, and videographers must be accompanied by a media officer or designated CUIMC representative to access CUIMC property. The CUIMC Office of Communications works closely with CUIMC Public Safety and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s Office of Public Affairs to manage media requests and ensure proper access to all CUIMC facilities.
