Australia’s new National Hydrogen Strategy supports Australia’s ambition to become a renewable superpower.✅⚡ The Strategy’s vision is to create a clean, innovative, safe and competitive hydrogen industry that benefits Australia’s communities and economy, enables our net zero transition, and positions us as a major global player. Minister for Climate Change and Energy, the Hon Chris Bowen MP and State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Anja Hajduk also signed a bilateral agreement today at the Asia-Pacific Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition in Brisbane. The historic deal worth A$660 million (€400 million) will guarantee European buyers for Australia’s renewable hydrogen producers. This will give Australian producers the opportunity to export to some of the world’s largest renewable hydrogen markets, including Germany, establishing new green supply chains with Europe and supporting a Future Made in Australia. An exciting milestone in the expanding agrifood partnership between #Australia and #Vietnam: new products granted two-way market access! 🇦🇺🇻🇳 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝘂𝗺𝘀 will now make their way to Vietnamese consumers, offering fresh, high quality produce and adding to the vibrant mix of fresh fruit available in Vietnam. This market access comes after two years of negotiations between the Australian and Vietnamese Governments, adding to the #stonefruit category’s reach into this market, with Australian #peaches and #nectarines coming back into market in 2022. Meanwhile, 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘆 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 are heading to Australian shores, following mango, longan, lychee and dragon fruit to bring a taste of Vietnam’s tropical goodness and enriching the variety of flavours available to Australians. Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski said that Vietnam and Australia have enjoyed a fruitful partnership in trading agricultural products, including fresh fruit. A growing range of fresh fruit are now available in both markets, in response to greater consumer demand and demonstrating mutual trust and significant joint efforts by all industry and government partners. “Vietnam presents a great opportunity for market growth and its consumers appreciate a high quality product. With market development, Australia could achieve at least 15 per cent of the share of plums within five years, equating to 2,500 tonnes at a value of A$7.5 million.” – shared by Summerfruit Australia CEO Trevor Ranford. Last week, local and international guests across government and industry came together at the The Australian Financial Review Asia Summit to explore how Asia is transforming Australia’s future through geopolitical competition, economic growth, and technological and social change.💡🌐 Among the speakers was Minister for Foreign Affairs, Penny Wong, who delivered the keynote speech, emphasising the importance of successful partnerships to withstand the region’s challenges and capitalise on opportunities. Austrade acting Deputy CEO Peter Horn shared his insights on a panel examining whether Australia is punching below its economic weight in Asia. Peter also highlighted the need for greater economic engagement with Southeast Asia. “In terms of Australia’s stock of outward investment, Southeast Asia accounts for 3.4% of that. But if you look at global flows of capital into Southeast Asia, it’s running at about 7%. So either, in Australia, we are not seeing the same opportunity set or for some reason we’re not able to take advantage of it.” Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) is leading multiple programs to help Aussie businesses do just that, including: - The Australia #SoutheastAsia Business Exchange program, which aims to increase two-way trade between Australia and Southeast Asia. - #LandingPads in Indonesia, Vietnam, and Singapore to help Australian export-ready tech scaleups enter new markets. - Southeast Asia Investment #DealTeams, who are working to increase investment into the region. - Simplified Trade System reforms to simplify cross-border regulations and improve digital systems, including making it easy access to trade information.
