"For advisers and business owners like myself, I think for us to be real advocates around the type of lifestyle that financial planning can provide, but also the really intrinsic joy that it can provide by helping people to achieve their goals. In a world where so many people, I feel, like are just ticking the box when it comes to work, we get the opportunity to really change people’s lives, which I don’t think, you know, many others do.” I don't believe there's a silver bullet in solving for the lack of young financial planners coming through the ranks, but the approach highlighted by Matt Hale GAICD surely needed to be one of the strategies deployed. In my 20s, financial planning allowed me to work as hard as I wanted, aggressively learn and earn well. In my 30s, it's allowing me the flexibility to work part time, to study, to get a balance of WFH and working in the city (code: look fabulous in heels). Those are some of the benefits for me and my lifestyle, that's before I even start talking about the rewarding nature of the work itself. Find me a better job, I'll wait.
