Campaign related lawsuit

Swindell's opponent in the 2010 election has filed a defamation lawsuit related to campaign mailers. E.S. "Buck" Newton says Swindell and the N.C. Democratic Party libeled him in the mailer. It says Newton was arrested and charged with several drug charges including selling cocaine.[3] However, court documents show the charges were dropped because it was a case of mistaken identity.

2008

On November 4, 2008, Swindell won re-election to the 11th District in the North Carolina State Senate. Swindell had no challenger.[4]
