Addison County is one of 14 counties in Vermont. It is home to the Addison Unit of the Superior Court, which contains a Criminal, Civil, Family, and Probate Division.

The United States District Court for the District of Vermont has jurisdiction in Addison County. Appeals from the District of Vermont go to the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.

Election rules

Primary election

Candidates compete in partisan elections. The winners of the party primaries advance to the general election.[1] Independent and minor party candidates do not face primary elections.[2]

Filing

Candidates must file for the primary election by 5:00 p.m. on the second Thursday after the first Monday in June.[3]

Signatures

Judicial candidates and other county officers seeking election must have at least 100 signatures on their primary petition. [4]
