I am a US Navy veteran, author of the LitRPG series known as, Valor Tale and medical logistics specialist. I was co-chair to the Unite America Chicago chapter from 2018 to 2021, and current head of the Chicago Missing Persons Guild which my group in the last three years along with the Commander (now retired) of the CPD youth division, Patricia Casey- improved and implemented better ways of finding missing individuals in Chicago, especially Black women and Transgender individuals. These missing loved ones, in most cases, have been found quickly and returned home safe and sound thanks to our efforts. I have been involved with CAARPR through my 2019, 48th ward Aldermanic campaign, I championed police accountability and public safety expansion as one of my main issues.

  • will support ending taxpayer bailouts for CPD officers' misconduct settlements
  • tirelessly fight to improve public safety (including reasonable fund reallocation to help lessen crime)
  • will work to bridge the divide between the community and the police (I believe in maintaining a police force).

Being involved in the process of implementing fiscal responsibility, police accountability and expanding public safety. The opportunity to humbly represent the 24th police district constituents.

I love video game music in general. So any soundtrack from Metal Gear Solid (PS1)

Candidate Connection

David Earl Williams III completed Ballotpedia's Chicago candidates survey for 2019. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Williams' responses.

Do you believe that there is corruption in Chicago politics, such as pay-to-play practices when the city awards bids? If so, how would you address it?

Term limits for all elected offices in Chicago, ward reduction from 50 to 25 and salary reduction for Chicago elected officials.

How would you make the city’s policies more responsive to community input instead of donors or special interests?

Campaign finance reforms and electing individuals to office who will put community first before partisan or special interest.

What sort of proposals would help reduce police shootings and fatalities?

When it comes to Chicago’s gun violence and mass shootings in general, there’s a strong divide on how to resolve this issue. Usually we hear those blaming the 2nd amendment, or others offering up “thoughts and prayers”. Both unrealistic in the sense that they wouldn’t prevent such tragedies from occurring. The most reasonable, responsible and safest solution is, to have metal detectors, security, active shooter alarms and actual counseling/mentoring services and stop closing public schools in impoverished areas, ending the war on drugs, proper funding to treat mental illness and get illegal guns off the streets.

How will you help to rebuild trust in the police department and to encourage the community to work with police?

We need an all elected (not appointed by the Mayor, but people from the 22 CAPS districts) Civilian Police accountability council (CPAC) to have the power to fire the Chicago police superintendent and set department policy.

How would you address criminal justice issues such as prison reform and the reintegration of formerly incarcerated persons into city life?

Decriminalize the harder substances and prostitution

How would you address the displacement of people of color and long-term residents from their neighborhoods?

Stop gentrification and start with actual community development.

How would you care for the most vulnerable Chicagoans?

Prioritize funding for mental health and homeless shelters.

How would you ensure that development benefits residents in their neighborhoods and not solely the developers and other interests?

More affordable housing and lift the ban on rent control. Those who make less than $43,000 annually should pay no more than $50 the next year or at lease renewal.

How would you distribute revenue fairly between neighborhoods?

If we can't abolish the TIFs, then we need to equally distributed through out all 50 wards. ($26 million each ward(

How do you propose to resolve the city’s underfunded pension plan for city employees?

Implement the LaSalle St tax, full Marijuana legalization and the revenue from the casino.

How will you address public health concerns such as contaminated drinking water, rat infestation, and lead poisoning?

Time to change out the old pipes and replace them entirely

What would be your first steps for improving the transit system in terms of affordability, accessibility, and safety?

Free transit for senior citizens and the disable, and reduced fare in half from what it is now for all Chicagoan's.

2018

The following issues were listed on Williams' campaign website:[12]

  • Taxes and Economy
Excerpt : "Mr. Williams supports lowering Illinois State income tax (as of 2016) from 3.75% to 2.25%, state sales tax rate from 6.25% to 3%, and Property tax from 2.14% to 1.75% easing the economic burden for all Illinoisans."
  • Chicago Gang Violence
Excerpt : "Since the end of 2012, Chicago has been deemed the Murder capital of not just Illinois, but the U.S.
According to the Chicago Tribune and other Chicago news outlets, 2016 crime statistics showed there were 762 murders in Chicago compared to 2015’s 468 murders, then the year before with 416, a 12.5% increase, as well as 2,900 shootings—13% more than the year prior, and up 29% since 2013. Most of these incidences occurred in the impoverished South and West side of the city."
  • Civil Liberties
Excerpt : "He supports the 2nd amendment as it’s a moral obligation and choice to defend oneself, friends and family, encourages gun safety and respects the local/state gun laws."
  • Bildung
Excerpt : "It is no secret that the quality of American education has decreased exponentially over the years. The main culprit happens to be the Department of Education. In order for the education of our children to improve, we need to take out government meddling, and instead focus on giving control back to the local level, therefore increasing the influence of parents and teachers on education. Parents once again through a voucher program, having state funds provided would be able to choose where their children(s) would receive education through the choice of a private or charter school, or even home schooling. Recent attempts where the government has tried to improve education (such as the No Child Left Behind Act) have been massive failures, while simultaneously draining millions of dollars."
  • Immigration
Excerpt : "When it comes to Sanctuary cities, Mr. Williams is not against it. However, Federal and State tax dollars shouldn’t go towards any welfare programs for undocumented immigrants either. If the undocumented immigrant is convicted of a felony or wanted fugitive, then they should be deported."
  • Family, Healthcare, and Environment
Excerpt : "Mr. Williams fully supports that both parents who are separated, have full visitation rights and provide proper care for the well being of their children(s). Also, the parent who is to receive child support payment MUST prove to the courts where the money is going to."
  • Veteran care and Foreign policy
Excerpt : "When it comes to taking care of our U.S. Veterans who are struggling with mental and physical disabilities; Mr. Williams believes in directly paying them their benefits to be used on the open market. In doing so, this will eliminate the need for the VA Hospitals who have time after time failed to treat our Veterans properly."

2016

The following issues were listed on Williams' campaign website:[13]

  • Civil Liberties
Excerpt: "Mr. Williams is opposed to federal legislation that infringes on the privacy of the American people such as the Patriot Act, NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) & NSA warrantless spying. He is also against any attempt by government or corporate entities to curtail freedom of speech on the Internet."
  • Foreign Policy
Excerpt: "Although foreign aid is given in good intentions, taxpayers nationwide end up funding wealthy bureaucrats or an overseas terrorist organization. We aid countries that are hostile towards the U.S., who use this money against us."
  • Immigration
Excerpt: "Mr. Williams is against illegal immigration and feels that the number one priority is to secure the U.S. borders with U.S. Military presences. However, he does believe in giving immigrants who contribute through their labor a path to legalization by means of a work visa program and being able to maintain financial stability before bringing their family into the U.S, acquiring higher education through the means of a study visa, or voluntary U.S Military service. The illegal’s who do not contribute will be cut off from welfare and deported. Illegal immigration is costing the government billions of dollars, so by maintaining a reasonable immigration policy, we can both improve our economy while decreasing debt."
  • Gesundheitswesen
Excerpt: "Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as ObamaCare has had, and will have only negative effects on the American working class with increased insurance premiums & raised payroll taxes, complicated the health care system for hospitals, infringed on personal rights of healthcare choice by mandating health insurance for everyone, forces workers to work part-time hours and massive layoffs. As an alternative to Obamacare, the implementation of CARE clinics for the poor can handle their medical needs, and allowing insurance across state lines for those who can afford it. Thus driving down the cost of care, giving the consumer free rein of choice."
  • Bildung
Excerpt: "It is no secret that the quality of American education has decreased exponentially over the years. The main culprit happens to be the Department of Education. In order for the education of our children to improve, we need to take out government meddling, and instead focus on giving control back to the local level, therefore increasing the influence of parents and teachers on education.
