Three of the seven seats on the Hemet Unified School District Board of Education were up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. In their bids for re-election, incumbents Patrick Searl and Jim Smith ran against challengers Stacey Bailey and Gene Hikel.[1] Searl won re-election, and Bailey and Hikel won the other two seats on the ballot.[2]
