Judge JoAnn Vogt

JoAnn L. Vogt was a judge on the Colorado Court of Appeals. She was appointed to the court on December 31, 1997 and retired on January 13, 2009.[1]

Bildung

Judge Vogt earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska in 1965 and was a Fulbright Scholar, Universität Hamburg, Germany, 1965-66. She earned her M.A. in 1967 and Ph.D. in 1972 from the University of Chicago. She later earned her J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law, 1986.

Career

Judge Vogt has served on the Colorado Court of Appeals, from 1998 - present. Prior to this she was employed in Private Practice from 1987 - 1997, a Law Clerk to Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Joseph R. Quinn from 1986-87 and a College German Teacher from 1968 - 1982.[2]

Professional and Civic Activities

Judge Vogt has served as an officer and director of the Legal Aid Society of Metro Denver and chair of the Colorado Access to Justice Commission. She is a member of the Colorado Supreme Court Standing Committee on Family Issues, a member and former trustee of the Denver Bar Association, a member of the Colorado Women’s Bar Association, and a former DBA representative to the Colorado Bar Association’s Board of Governors. She enjoys educating school children and other members of the community about the Colorado judicial system.
