The Maine Ferry Service Bond Issue, also known as Referendum Question No. 2, was on the September 9, 1957 ballot in Maine as a legislatively referred bond question, where it was approved. The measure issued up to $2.5 million in bonds for the Maine Port Authority to assume, consolidate and improve the operations of various existing ferry services for the transportation of vehicles, freight and passengers between the mainland and the island towns of North Haven, Vinalhaven, Islesboro and Swan's Island.

Aftermath

On October 12, 1959, a bonded debt of $2.5 million remained on the ferry service.
