Nevada Justice Courts are courts in the state of Nevada that hear civil and criminal cases.
Jurisdiction
Civil cases heard by The Nevada Justice Courts include lawsuits where the amount in dispute is $10,000 or less, landlord and tenant controversies, small claims cases and the full range of civil and criminal traffic offenses.[1]
Justice Courts have limited jurisdiction over certain types of civil and criminal cases.
Justice Courts cannot hear cases with disputes over boundaries or title to real property, mining claims or disputes over the validity of a tax or assessment or fine.
Justice court judges may also preside over community court hearings, which handle misdemeanor criminal cases for eligible defendants.[2][3]
Justice court judges may also preside over specialty court cases related to misdemeanor offenses. Specialty courts are therapeutic court programs addressing substance abuse and mental illness as contributors to criminal offenses.[2][3]
