A Smithville Area Fire Protection District Property Tax Levy ballot question was defeated on the August 6, 2013, election ballot in Clay County, which is in Missouri.
If approved, this measure would have authorized the Smithville Area Fire Protection District to increase its property tax levy ceiling by 0.30 per $100 of assessed valuation. The estimated tax rate if this measure is approved is $0.5925 per $100 of assessed valuation. The additional revenue from this tax increase was designed to be used to hire emergency personnel and fund the operation of a new fire station.[1]

" | Shall the Board of Directors of the Smithville Area Fire Protection District be authorized to increase the general operating fund tax levy ceiling of the District by $0.30 per $100 of assessed valuation for the purpose of hiring firefighters/emergency medical personnel for new and existing fire stations, paying operating costs of a new fire station and for other general operating costs of the District?
If this question is approved, the general operating fund tax levy ceiling of the District is estimated to be $0.5925 per $100 of assessed valuation.[1][2] |
