Connolly ran for West Virginia Treasurer in 2012. He was defeated by Mike Hall (West Virginia) in the May 8 Republican Primary.[2] Incumbent John Perdue ran unopposed for re-election on the Democratic ticket. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.
