Maximizing Workplace Potential: Unleashing Strengths in ADHD, Autism, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.

Über uns

Welcome to Neurodiverse Brains in the Workplace, where we celebrate the unique strengths and talents of individuals with ADHD, autism, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyslexia, dyspraxia (DCD), giftedness, and other neurodivergent traits. We're passionate about unlocking the potential of neurodivergent individuals in the workplace. Our focus is on the positives – highlighting the creativity, 'out of the box' thinking, pattern recognition, and attention to detail that neurodivergent employees bring to their work. If you are an employee, an employer or an HR manager we would be delighted to come & talk to you. Please contact us at [email protected] to arrange an appointment. Neurodiverse Brains in the Workplace is part of European Brains @ Work Belgium - which is part of The European Brains @ Work Foundation, NL. 'European Brains @ Work' was founded in The Netherlands & it was co-funded by the Erasmus+ KAI Programme of the European Union. We also have online Support meetings (email [email protected]) https://linktr.ee/NeurodiverseAdults We started as a group (ADHD, ASC & LD Belgium - now Neurodiversity Belgium) which provides a network of support, evidence-based information and resources for English-speaking families (children and teens, their parents and wider family) affected by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, and Learning Disabilities in Belgium - as well as for their teachers/schools and other professionals who work with them. We hope we can spread awareness about ADHD, Autism & other Neurodivergent conditions that often coexist with them, such as Learning Differences (Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia/DCD, Dysgraphia etc), in order that the children and adolescents who experience these chronic conditions will have the opportunity to achieve their full potential at school, and to live balanced and productive lives as adults. Don’t think in silos CFS has been shown not only in autism/ADHD but also DCD too … I wonder when they did the research did they look at the co-occurrence between other conditions such as DCD - DCD /ASD overlaps in around 70% of people! It is more tiring when you have to consciously have to move to learn and it is not automated ! See :

NVLD is one of the most misunderstood neurotypes. Non-Verbal Learning Disorder/Disability/Difference (I prefer difference) is rather confusingly named. So I tried to bring some clarity - and fortunately, I had a fantastic lived NVLD experience interview/quote that was only partially used in my book, The Canary Code. It provided helpful examples illustrating how stereotypes and misinformation cause much of NVLD struggle. Here are the key points: 🧠 1. NVLD Is Not About Language Difficulty: Despite the term “nonverbal,” many NVLDers excel in language-based tasks. Their challenges typically lie elsewhere—namely, in nonverbal domains such as visual-spatial processing, motor coordination, or in some cases, emotional processing. 🧠 2. NVLD Is Not a Lack of General Cognitive Ability. 🧠 3. NVLD Is Not Autism. 🧠 4. NVLD Is Not Laziness or a Bad Attitude. 🧠 5. NVLD Is Not Something One Outgrows. NVLD is quite likely represented in our organizations and our work teams. Flexible and inclusive #HumanResources and #management practices - and doing away with stereotypes - coudl go a long way in supporting these colleagues. #NVLD #neurodiversity #inclusion Lauren Arant Menachekanian

📚 Part 2: Books About Dyspraxia📚 Looking for more information on Dyspraxia? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! This is part two of 10 books about Dyspraxia to check out: 6. The Adolescent with Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (DCD) by Amanda Kirby 7. Caged in Chaos: A Dyspraxic Guide to Breaking Free by Victoria Briggs 8. Dyspraxia: Dyspraxic Adults Surviving in a Non-Dyspraxic World by the Dyspraxia Foundation Adult Support Group, Janet Taylor, and Mary Morris 9. The Dyspraxic Learner: Strategies for Success by Alison Patrick 10. Dyspraxia: Developmental Co-ordination Disorder by Amanda Kirby You can find all of these books on Amazon. 📖✨ Although these books are listed in no particular order, I want to give a special shout-out to one of my heroes, Prof. Amanda Kirby MBBS MRCGP PhD FCGI . Growing up, I would often see her books in bookshops. Her work has been pivotal in raising awareness about dyspraxia, and she has helped so many people, not just through her books and research but through her tireless advocacy for the Neurodiversity community. 🌟 When compiling this list, I noticed (just by the names) that none of the authors were men. While this is great because it challenges the stereotype that boys are more likely to have dyspraxia than girls, I do think it reflects a wider trend in the Neurodiversity community (from my perspective, at least). Historically, diagnostic criteria and much of the scientific literature focused almost solely on males, so it’s encouraging to see things are changing although there is so much more to do here . However, I also feel that, over the years, men have often left others to do the heavy lifting in advocating for our community. I've been in numerous meetings within the ND community where I’m the only man in the room. This shouldn’t be the case. I’m not saying that women should stop doing the incredible work they’re doing—far from it. But I do want to challenge myself and other men to step up and do more. 💪🏽 Of course there are exceptions, but representation is key. We definitely need more men—especially men from ethnic minority backgrounds—sharing their lived experiences in ways that resonate with everyday people. 🌍👥 If you agree (or disagree!) with anything I’ve said, I’d love to hear from you in the comments below! 💬 There’s a saying: “Be the change you want to see.”Well, I’m feeling more compelled than ever to write a book of my own after composing this list. ✍🏽📚 The main issue for me right now is capacity 🙈.If you’ve got any suggestions or tips on how to overcome that barrier, please drop them in the comments or slide into my DMs. I’d love to hear your thoughts and advice! 👊🏽🖤 Photo ID : Books about dyspraxia and their authors with organ writing and background #Dyspraxia #Dyspraxiaawareness #Neurodiversity #Neurodiversity #Repersentation
