A great conversation was had on September 11 about energy solutions for Ontario's future, thanks to the Toronto Region Board of Trade's Climate Tech Breakfast Series. Our own James Kusie, VP of Public & Government Affairs, kicked things off with welcome remarks, which was followed by an informative discussion throughout the morning looking to answer the question: Can Nuclear Technology Superpower Ontario's Cleantech Economy? We always appreciate the opportunity to participate in a meaningful conversation and hope everyone walked away having gained key insights into Ontario's energy future.

While the 2024 Summer Olympics have come to a close and the Paralympics are in full swing, we're thrilled to shine a spotlight on an Olympian we’re proud to call one of our own—Andrea Marschalko. 🚣♀️💪 Andrea, who represented Hungary in rowing at the Sydney 2000 Games, is now leading the turnaround at our Nanticoke Refinery in her role as Cost Control Lead. And if they gave out gold medals for successfully completing work on Nanticoke’s six-week turnaround, Andrea says that would be the next thing she’d want to add to her trophy shelf. 🏆 Her journey from the Olympic stage to refinery leadership is a testament to how the skills and dedication from sports can drive success in any field.

It was a hole-in-one for our community as our annual Imperial United Way Classic golf tournament raised more than $500,000 for the United Way of Calgary and Area recently, bringing our three-year cumulative total to more than $1.1 million. It was a great day, with great weather – combined with some great and not-so-great golf! We know that the transition back to school can be daunting, especially for kids entering their first year of school. That’s why we’re proud to partner with the Calgary Public Library Foundation for their Kindergarten Book Bags program. This year, over 3,000 book bags will be distributed to kindergarten students attending schools that have a higher need for resources that support school readiness and early literacy. These bags, which include essential school supplies and fun STEM activities, aim to make the transition to kindergarten smoother for both students and their families. By focusing on STEM education, we're equipping the next generation with the tools and resources they need to explore new learning opportunities from day one. Last week, our Strathcona refinery team held a comprehensive emergency response simulation in coordination with the local fire department and EMS.
