I met this lovely person, Pamela Hackett, on my way to the fireside chat with Karim Bardeesy and Marshall Ganz. My head is still spinning with ideas of leadership in public policy and the power of stories to build coalitions that change the world from where it is, to where is ought to be. Thank you to folks at The Dais at Toronto Metropolitan University for this inspiring evening! Thanks also to Tina Edan for pushing me in the right direction.

If you don’t know who Marshall Ganz is, you need to. While he can be described as a quiet force, he hits home that “leadership is a practice – it can come from anywhere.” That was one of the first of many quotes I took away from Toronto’s The Dais at Toronto Metropolitan University fireside chat with Marshall last night. What a pleasure to be introduced to the The Dais. First through Martin Regg Cohn’s interview of Olivia Chow last week and last night Karim Bardeesy’s chat with Marshall and Emily S Lin, another quiet powerhouse. And if you are curious about the meaning behind The Dais - I now know it means ‘raised platform.’ Dig a little deeper and you learn - a dais (day-es) is a place that illuminates the people on it. A great definition of leadership and #WeRiseByLiftingOthers. Thank you Sam Andrey and Karim – it was one of those hours that pays back in a hundred ways! And a huge shout out to Susan Wright who (helped me find my way in and then) opened the door to her world - leading an NGO summerlunch+ and what it means to be a founder building for good and looking to impact policy while she's at it! Such a pleasure to meet you there! #thedais #TMU #leadership #leadreal #managetoengage
