Recently, Monica and a team of Twilio volunteers assisted Welsh Women's Aid, an organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence. The challenge? Welsh Women's Aid needed a new CRM system to serve their mission better. Monica's team developed a detailed guide to help them choose a solution that truly fits their needs. Monica shares, "When we achieve a certain place in our career, we can carve out time to give gratitude and help others. It doesn't feel like additional work when engaging in a volunteer project aligned with your passion." Though from different sectors, Charlotte Rocker and Dan Barnett share a passion for making a difference. Charlotte, a Product Strategy Lead at Novartis, and Dan, the Chief Development Officer at Students 2 Science (S2S), connected through a skills-based volunteering project organized by Novartis and Common Impact. Charlotte first encountered skills-based volunteering during Novartis’s latest day of service. Reflecting on this, she shared, “I hadn’t previously heard of skills-based volunteering; once I found out about it, it felt like a powerful way for me to ‘give back’ some of the skills I’ve built in my career.” Her involvement resonated deeply with her own experiences and commitment to STEM education, leading to her joining the S2S board. How much of a difference can a day of skills-based volunteering make? During a recent event with Wayfair, 19 volunteers contributed 152 hours to support two incredible nonprofits: Fenway Community Development Corporation and Housing Families. Their efforts created $5,100 in fair market value! Beyond the metrics, the tangible ways volunteers helped these nonprofits were truly valuable! Fenway Community Development Corporation: Wayfair volunteers developed a strategy to expand corporate partnerships and engagement, offering recommendations to attract new supporters and enhance fundraising, events, and partnerships. Housing Families: Wayfair volunteers crafted a marketing strategy to boost their external presence, providing creative storytelling ideas and aligning content with major events to better engage their audience. This collaboration showcases highlights the value of skills-based volunteering in driving impactful change. Since 2000, Kiran has been dedicated to breaking the cycle of abuse by providing culturally specific support and resources. As their reach expands across North Carolina, they are focused on amplifying their visibility and outreach, particularly on social media platforms. The organization's leaders and staff recently collaborated with Allstate volunteers to enhance their social media engagement strategies. Together, they developed a plan to increase awareness of Kiran's essential services and transform marketing opportunities into impactful fundraising efforts. In just one day, 18 volunteers from Manulife/John Hancock dedicated their expertise to developing a signature skills pitch competition for summerlunch+. Their work included creating strategic materials, outlining competition details, and providing actionable recommendations to elevate the event’s effectiveness and impact. Today I was part of an AI Focus Group for not-for-profits hosted by Common Impact. Thank you Erica Cheung for inviting me. Wow, so many learnings! Here we go... *Revenue is top of mind for not-for-profit leaders to keep their businesses running *There isn't enough focus on problems or issues that AI can potentially solve in not-for-profit products and operations *We are ALL still trying to figure out use-cases for AI to support not-for-profit products and operations There was one use-case that came out of the discussion that I found interesting. If your goal is to keep your operating costs low and find ways to save, can AI support in analyzing financial data, business requirements, and make initial recommendations? After reflecting, AI is not a product. It's truly a tool that can be incorporated in many ways, depending on the need, to products to support a business. Lastly, it's crucial to identify the problems you are trying to solve and ask yourself, "Why is that important?"

As workplace trends evolve, a powerful shift is happening: employees are demanding purpose-driven initiatives and social engagement from their employers. The latest Edelman Trust Barometer Global Report reveals that 63% of employees buy or advocate for brands based on their beliefs and values, while 69% view social impact as crucial when considering employers. What does this mean for companies? Fostering a culture of giving not only benefits communities but also creates a healthier and more engaged workforce.
