Meet Monica Stefan-Kühl, a dedicated advocate for social good. Recently, Monica and a team of Twilio volunteers assisted Welsh Women's Aid, an organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence. The challenge? Welsh Women's Aid needed a new CRM system to serve their mission better. Monica's team developed a detailed guide to help them choose a solution that truly fits their needs. Monica shares, "When we achieve a certain place in our career, we can carve out time to give gratitude and help others. It doesn't feel like additional work when engaging in a volunteer project aligned with your passion." Monica's story shows the power of combining our skills and passion for a greater cause. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gAKuwTeH #SkillsBasedVolunteering #SocialImpact #TechForGood #Volunteerism #GivingBack

"The way we work at InnerCity Weightlifting (ICW) promotes collaboration. It's not just about helping a few individuals or 'disadvantaged' people. We prefer to say uplifting and centering communities that are 'disinvested,' meaning they haven't received the same resources and support as other communities." - Ian D. Kilpatrick, Head of Development. At InnerCity Weightlifting (ICW), fitness isn't just about exercise—it's about transforming lives. Through personal training programs and case management, ICW empowers those impacted by systemic racism and incarceration in Bostis and Chicago. Ian Kilpatrick shares how skills-based volunteers from companies like Manulife/John Hancock play an important role in driving this mission forward. Discover how ICW is creating opportunities for social equity and why collaboration is the heart of their approach. Skills-based volunteering (SBV) is about using your corporate skills to help nonprofits tackle their toughest challenges. For instance, LinkedIn’s advertising team used their expertise to build and optimize over 2,400 ad campaigns for 90 nonprofits! 🛠️ As Leila Saad, CEO of Common Impact, points out, skills-based volunteering requires a bit more effort, but the results are transformative. Nonprofits gain valuable resources, and employees have the opportunity to develop their skills while making a meaningful difference. Plus, the impact extends beyond just the project—skills-based volunteering can significantly boost employee retention. A six-year study by the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship found a 36% reduction in attrition for employees who participated in SBV compared to those who did not. Since 1995, Asian/Pacific Islander Domestic Violence Resource Project (A/PI DVRP) has been a beacon of culturally competent, trauma-informed, and survivor-centered services. With the help of Allstate skills-based volunteers, A/PI DVRP took steps to enhance its data collection and analysis capabilities, focusing on capturing more comprehensive metrics. By identifying additional data points and leveraging their new database platform, A/PI DVRP aims to gain deeper insights into their clients' socioeconomic and mental health needs. This initiative will empower DVRP to advocate for public policy changes and secure more robust funding, ultimately allowing them to make a more significant impact in building safer communities. Hear more from Krittika Ghosh, Executive Director at A/PI DVRP.
