In their most recent report on employee health trends, Manulife Canada empowers Canadians with information to help them live longer, healthier, and better lives. As their Medical Director, we reviewed their most recent data that shows an increase in mental health, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) medication, and diabetes claims. Here are some of the highlights: 🧠Mental Health - "Increasing claims related to mental health concerns can indicate overall worsening mental health and increased prevalence of mental health diagnoses but can also suggest improved awareness of and access to needed services, which can overall improve the mental health and well-being of employees in the longer term." Dr. Steve Pomedli. Learn more about mental health data in the report below. 💊 ADHD – The last few years of an unstructured work environment and increased awareness due to social media influence could contribute to the reason why more women are being diagnosed and more medications are being prescribed to adults. Read more and watch videos within the report to learn more. 💉 Diabetes – Millions of Canadians have prediabetes, Type 1, or Type 2 diabetes. With the introduction of Ozempic for the treatment of Type 2, the medication landscape has changed. Read more in the report to see how this impacts companies and their employees. If you are interested in learning more about how we help patients at our clinics in Toronto, you can reach out to our team at [email protected].
After being underdiagnosed for decades, increased awareness of the different presentations of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder has led to more women receiving the diagnosis and support they need. But there’s more work to be done. Read about the differences in how ADHD presents across genders, and the risk of going untreated, in this special report we produced with our medical director, Cleveland Clinic Canada. https://ow.ly/xvrO50SJn6F
