An emblem of "romantic love" from the mediaeval era of chivalry. According to a 16th century legend written by the chronicler w:Wenceslaus Hajek (Václav Hájek), it was Zuzana, a bathhouse maid, who in 1394 helped King Wenceslas IV to escape from imprisonment by Czech nobles in Prague Castle. The story of Zuzana and King Wenceslas IV features in Antonín Seeman's song play Lazebnice od Karlova and Josef Toman, who wrote the text Lidový král. Other sources state that it is Queen Žofia herself appearing as a maid, half-naked, barefoot and in a translucent veil.
