Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A 1904 phonographic recording of Henry C. Work's "Marching Through Georgia", sung by Byron G. Harlan and Frank C. Stanley. The song, penned following General Sherman's March to the Sea in 1865, sold over 500,000 copies and was a cornerstone of any Unionist reunion. It was picked up by Edison's record label at the height of its popularity. The popular music duo Harlan & Stanley, one of the most renowned of their time, performed the song multiple times at the turn of the 20th century. This rendition, labelled as Edison Record 8606, Cylinder 4314, was originally named "Marching Thro' Georgia." The duet vocals are accompanied by orchestral arrangements and drum corps effect.
