File:Conches en Ouche - Le Comice Agricole 2017 - Nekaf M38A1 - 1955-62 - assemblée par l'entreprise hollandaise Nederlandse Kaiser-Frazer.jpg

[edit]

Bonjour,
Cordialement,
BarnCas (talk) 09:48, 15 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Ugo Flavio Piton Roure Chisone Val Chisone 1921-2017 Val Chisone.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT ([email protected]). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Ugo Flavio Piton Roure Chisone Val Chisone 1921-2017 Val Chisone.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Hello Ruthven, I don't understand why all my uploaded photos have been deleted? For the visual File:Ugo Flavio Piton Roure Chisone Val Chisone 1921-2017 Val Chisone.jpg, I'm ok that the use of the books is problematic, but for all others, these are my personal creations, and I don't understand the reason for removing them... Can you help me understand? Thank you very much.

Hi, all these files were with the logo "I Love Val Chisone", which is bound to a Facebook[1] profile and a website[2].
So there are 2 issues:
  1. the watermark, which is in that form considered as ADVERT on Commons
  2. the permission from the website owner (which can be you, I dunno) that is missing
Hope that it clarifies the matter. Cheers Ruthven (msg) 08:18, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ruthven,
Yes, I created the logo for "I love Val Chisone", "I love Roure Chisone" and "I love CEO, Conches-en-Ouche" for the Facebook, Wordpress, Tumblr, Twitter or instagram pages. No intention on my part to make any advertising, but these watermarks allow me to trace the use that is made of the visuals. I am a graphic designer by profession, amateur photographer and volunteer passionate about the history and geography of these places. It took me several years to publish all this content. I’m just asking you for a little compassion before deleting everything. Thank you in advance. LesPetitsSuisses (talk) 02:51, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, watermarks are not welcome on Commons (read COM:Watermark). So, using the logo to mark your photos is a very bad idea. A more acceptable way to watermark your files is to write in the metadata (EXIF): they exist for that as well.
So, the next steps on your side would be to write a permission to COM:VRT from the email address on the Facebook/Instagram page, just to be sure that you are the owner of the accounts and thus of the photos. I cannot guarantee that the files will be restored because of the watermark/advert, but at least we'll be able to reupload/overwrite the existing versions with a photo without the watermark. NB: You can indicate this conversation in the mail to VRT, to trace the list of the files, and the issue with the social network accounts. Cheers, Ruthven (msg) 09:23, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
