A barnstar for you!

[edit]
The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
Thank you so much for all your hard work improving automobile-related categorization here on Wikimedia Commons, Somegreenguy! Please accept this barnstar as a small token of my appreciation. Both your knowledge of models and years of cars and your consistent improvements to categorization here on Commons are very impressive. Once again, thank you! "Convertibles"

[edit]

https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:MG_TD_in_Montesano,_WA.jpg&diff=prev&oldid=790253464: I don't actually see Category:Convertibles anywhere up the hierarchy of parent cats. Shouldn't it be in there somewhere? - Jmabel ! talk 18:18, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:MG_T is under https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:MG_roadsters, I figured that would cover it but lmk if I'm wrong Somegreenguy (talk) 18:26, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see Category:Roadsters is not under Category:Convertibles. I don't know the terminology well enough to know whether that is correct or not. - Jmabel ! talk 22:43, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A roadster is generally considered to an open topped 2-seater, so I think it would be more applicable in this case Somegreenguy (talk) 22:53, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree on "roadster" for this. My question was whether Category:Roadsters should be a subcat of Category:Convertibles. - Jmabel ! talk 01:12, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I see what you mean now, I think it would definitely make sense for that to be the case Somegreenguy (talk) 03:43, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Guess I'll do that, but I won't fight it if someone removes it. As I say, I don't know if "roadster" is somehow not encompassed by "convertible". - Jmabel ! talk 03:54, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thanks for adding categories to my parade photos, it is really appreciated :) Mjrmtg (talk) 10:23, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Of course! Happy to help out :) Somegreenguy (talk) 18:53, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

File:Chevrolet Silverado GMTT1XX Crew Cab DLC.jpeg

[edit]

Yes, this is a regular cab truck, so I fully support the move. Plus, I rented a regular cab Chevy Silverado Custom 1500 from U-Haul in September, and I'm sorry I never took any pictures of it. -- DanTD (talk) 19:52, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

please could you attend to the remaining fixes for the rename. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:39, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done, thanks for the heads up 👍 Somegreenguy (talk) 20:47, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

File:1993 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Pace Car Edition, Mecum Auctions Kissimmee 2024.jpg

[edit]

Hey, I saw you added "Category:Chevrolet Camaro Indianapolis 500 pace cars" to my photo; the pictured car is simply a "Pace Car Edition" produced by Chevy afterwards; it's not a "real", race-used Pace Car, so I don't think it goes in that category. If I'm mistaken, feel free to restore it, and I'll note that for the future. Pokemonprime (talk) 21:55, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

From what I've seen, typically these categories are also used for Pace Car replicas too (ex. Category:Chevrolet Corvette 1998 Indianapolis 500 pace car, Category:Chevrolet Camaro 1982 Indianapolis 500 pace car, Category:Ford Mustang 1994 Indianapolis 500 pace car) Somegreenguy (talk) 23:01, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ford iVCT is Duratec?

[edit]

Hello, Regarding this change [1], do you happen to have a reliable source stating that this is a Duratec engine? I kinda see that it's similar to Mazda's Duratec, but the problem is that Ford is not using this trademark on their website. Moreover, older Duratec engines don't have this compression ratio of 13:1. --Amakuha (talk) 00:38, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I just pulled it from the en wiki page for the 4th gen Escape, that could be wrong on there but I'm not sure. Somegreenguy (talk) 00:39, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I think, it's a mistake in Wikipedia then. Ford didn't even call its original 2.5L hybrid engine a Duratec according to the same article, even though there is obvious similarity.
I requested a reliable source in Wikipedia for now. --Amakuha (talk) 02:33, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok cool, thanks for bringing it up to me. Somegreenguy (talk) 21:05, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

File:Pearl Country Store & BBQ; Micanopy, FL-03.jpg

[edit]

I normally wouldn't mind the update in that pic of the barbecue restaurant in Micanopy, Florida, but are you sure the Ram Heavy Duty truck is a 3500? Because even though I took the picture, I forgot the weight class. For all I know, it could've been a 4500 or 5500. --DanTD (talk) 03:49, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The 4500s and 5500s have fender flares on the front to accommodate the larger axle. I wasn't sure at first either but then I noticed the lack of them. As far as I know its never been offered on the 3500s, but I could be wrong. Somegreenguy (talk) 22:12, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
