Thanks for uploading File:Glasgow Herald Building Fleet Street.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

File:Log of HMS Nimrod 13-14 January 1827.pdf has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

The photo was taken from the public highway, within the law of Panoramafreiheit in the UK. The object being photographed is non-commercial, was made hastily for the scarecrow festival, by the householder, and has been destroyed (along with most of the other scarecrows in the festival) within a few days of the display. I have removed the "soft toy" category, because it is a non-commercial item made by the householder for the festival. Storye book (talk) 10:06, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gosh Storye book, that was close... Lotje (talk) 05:48, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I had to add that explanation on the filepage, because someone had tagged it as blurred, and I am actually pleased with that picture, and didn't want it overwritten. So it's not about showing off. It's about explaining and protecting the picture. I still do stupid stuff, but now it's more about lying on tbe floor in public places like museums, to get a good angle shot, knowing that I can no longer easily get up again, these days. Sigh. Hope you have a great holiday this season. ---- Storye book (talk) 08:25, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The subjects of these photographs are not artworks; neither are the creators artists. The artwork is only in my photography. These photographic subjects are temporary effigies, non-commercial and made to be destroyed, made for fun by a group of people bound together only by the location of their residence. That group has remained anonymous and has never claimed to be an artist, nor has their been any claim by them that the objects in question are artworks or sculptures. They are therefore covered by Panoramafreiheit. Commons respects British Panoramafreiheit. Photographs taken from public highways in the UK are not taken under US law, and do not have to be judged under US law. Effigies are non-artistic 3D objects, and there has, as far as I am aware, never been a copyright case in the UK against a photographer of festival scarecrows or any other temporary effigies (cases against effigies intended for defamatory purposes are not relevant here, because that is not about copyright). In my opinion, the hounding of hundreds of my photographs by one person has now become vexatious, and needs to stop. This has become a waste of my time, and a waste of other people's time. I apologize for the mix-up made in the first categorization, but I remind you that despite not being part of the European Union, the United Kingdom is still part of the european continent. ;) Ciaurlec (talk) 19:53, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Europe is on the other side of the North Sea. The UK is an island, not on the continent.
Your above comment makes no difference to the categorisation. To be more precise than United Kingdom, you would have to change it to a place within the United Kingdom. That could only be England, Kent, or Herne Bay.
Europe, being a much, much bigger place than the UK, is more imprecise than UK (wherever you may think Europe's borders are).
Precise means exact, and in this case, a more precise location has to be a smaller location. Look at an atlas. Storye book (talk) 20:21, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the person being hit by the truck in this drawing is missing a finger. Opencooper (talk) 19:37, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's because it's a cartoon. Modern cartoons have had their own traditions, from when they started in the early 20th century. Look at Mickey Mouse, Family Guy, etc.: they've all got a thumb and three fingers.Storye book (talk) 08:47, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your reasoning doesn't make sense to me. The file description, written by you, describes it as a "manga-style drawing". Manga in the more recent period that the isekai genre has developed do not have characters lacking fingers, while the manga tradition has focused more on things like stylized eyes and faces. You won't find a single isekai manga where the characters are missing a finger. Opencooper (talk) 04:44, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then that is a good thing. The picture was created to illustrate the article, but it was necessary to make absolutely clear that the picture did not impinge on the copyright of any manga films or any online memes about truck-kun. So you should have already noticed that the truck has a British-style flat front, unlike the American-style bull-nosed trucks which feature in some manga cartoons. If I put another finger on that drawing for you, there will be a risk that the picture will be deleted for having a feature that is too close to some copyrighted manga cartoon. Therefore I cannot change it. There is another way to look at it, also. Memes relating to manga are now created in all countries, by all sorts of people, including British people who have seen flat-nosed trucks, and American people who have seen Family Guy. Their memes may have features which are non-manga, just like my picture. And the article is primarily about memes.
