Description: Tobias Beckett

Context: Solo: A Star Wars Story
Tobias Beckett was a human male professional thief who worked for the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn during the era of the Galactic Empire. Beckett organized a crew to help with his heist missions. Although he became a mentor to Han Solo, Beckett was a survivor who quietly worked out angles that enabled him to come out ahead.



This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.


  • This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum.
  • GMLs uncertain about an aspect of submitted costume shall post questions in the appropriate DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forum.
  • Measurements given in this document are intended to be approximate and generalized; not criteria for approval.
  • Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size.
  • Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GMLs and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume.


Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.

  • The costumer has dirty blonde short cut hair.
  • The bangs fall just below the eyes.
  • The costumer has scruffy facial hair.

  • The scarf is a unsaturated dark blue color and made from natural fibres.
  • The scarf has tattered edges.
  • The scarf is tucked inside the jumpsuit and is only shown around the collar.




DZ Beckett Duster.jpg Duster
  • The duster is heavily weathered and tan in colour. It is made from a jean or other heavy natural fiber.
  • The yoke of the duster is dirty tan in color and made from a wool or wool-like material with a tight fabric weave.
  • The yoke wraps around the back collar and loops around the costumer’s shoulders.
    • The yoke begins at the costumer’s collar bone.
  • Where the yoke joins the duster, the seam is double top stitched to a point, whereby there is only a single seam pointing diagonally up to the costumer’s neck.
  • There are tabs on the yoke; a square one (1) on the costumer’s left shoulder, and a rounded one (1) on the costumer’s right shoulder, and another two (2) rounded tabs located towards the back of the yoke.
  • There are two lengths of thick natural colored cotton rope attached to the tips of the collar that are the same length as the costumer’s sleeves.
  • The duster is knee length.
  • There is a slit in the back of the duster.
  • The sleeves end at the wrist and are undercoated.
  • The duster is double layered and top stitched on the outside along the entire perimeter.
  • There is a rectangular tan greeblie on the costumer’s top left shoulder. There are two red button on the outside edge. The inside edge of the greeblie has lines and a small screw. The greeblie is weathered

  • The coveralls are heavily weathered and made from a dark grey or black medium weight cotton or denim.
  • There is a mandarin collar.
  • The front center seam is closed and shows no closures.
  • There are two double top stitched seams on the suit that runs vertically from the collar to the ankles (the entire length of the coveralls).
  • There are two square pockets, one located on each breast.
    • These pockets overlap the vertical seam.
    • Each pocket has a small row of red stitching at the top corner facing the costumer’s center.
  • There is a red greeblie on the costumer’s top left just above the pocket. The greeblie features a red square button.
  • Above the chest pockets, there are two horizontal seams that run parallel with the costumer’s collar bones.
  • The coveralls feature a belt channel at the natural waistline.
  • The belt is made of the same fabric as the coveralls and features five (5) lines of stitching.
    • The belt has a gun metal loop buckle that is weathered.
  • Two flat patch pockets are located on the costumer’s front hips. These pockets end at the upper thighs.
  • On the costumer’s lower right leg, there is a small narrow pocket that ends at the belt thigh straps.
  • Note: The coveralls may have pockets on the upper arm.

  • The belt is a PLCE style belt, may be tan or light olive in color and made from nylon or cotton material.
  • The belt is approximately 2.5 inches wide at the buckle.
  • The buckle is hexagonal shaped.
  • The belt straps attach behind the buckle.
  • The top two belt straps have metal ends with two rivets at the connection point to the buckle.
  • The lower two belt straps have loop ends with two rivets, with a thin buckle that connects behind the main hexagonal belt buckle.
  • The main belt is worn at the natural waist line of the costumer, and sits below the belt line of the coveralls.
  • There are three (3) clip holders on the belt on the costumer’s left.
  • The metal clips have prongs at the bottom, these are placed inside of the three (3) “belt loops”.
  • As the bottom belt gets father away from the buckle, the belt gradually grows larger which has two holsters on the side hip that include approximately one inch straps that attach around the thighs.
    • The thigh straps close on the inside of the leg by two button snaps.
    • The holsters are made of the same material as the belt, are simple in design and include a single strap on each.
  • The belt has an etched border which is approximately .5 inches wide.

  • The gloves are dirty tan or light brown leather or leather like material.
  • They are heavily weathered.
  • There is a sewn rectangle on the top of the glove.




DZ Beckett Boots.jpg Boots
  • Boots are dark brown to black leather or leather like material.
  • The boots end just below the knee.
  • At the top of the boot there are three (3) panels of light brown leather that end at the calf. The panels are rectangular in shape and there are spaces between the panels.
    • The outside panel extends from the centre of the shin to the middle of the calf
    • The rectangular brown panels begin approximately 3/4 inch from the top and end at the mid-calf.
  • The panels are divided by 3/4 inch straps that run vertically between the panels from the top and end at the ankle of the boots.
  • There is a small strap around the ankle of the boots that closes on the outside via a small buckle.




Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.


Dz beckett blasters.jpg Blasters
  • The costumer has two blasters.
    • An accurate replica of the Blastech Sideloader DG-29 Heavy Blaster is worn on the left.
    • An accurate replica of the Blastech RSKF-44 Heavy Blaster is worn on the right.
  • The blasters include a brown wood or simulated wood stock and a metal colored barrel.
