Description: Bib Fortuna

Context: Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Bib Fortuna is a male Twi'lek from Ryloth who serves as the chief of staff and chamberlain of the crime lord Jabba the Hutt, handling all of the day-to-day operations at his master's palace.


For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

In the page below, items listed in blue are recommended features that will improve the quality of the costume. Items listed in red are intended to further enhance the finished costume.


This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.


  • This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum.
  • GMLs uncertain about an aspect of submitted costume shall post questions in the appropriate DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forum.
  • Measurements given in this document are intended to be approximate and generalized; not criteria for approval.
  • Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size.
  • Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GMLs and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume.


Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.


DZ Bib mask.jpg Mask
  • Mask is made from a high quality latex or silicone product. High quality latex or silicone prosthetics may be used instead.
  • Face tone is pink or pale skintone.
  • Two long montrails extend from the back of the head and wrap around the costumer.
  • A bulbous chin with layers of skin with two thin protruding skin sacks from under the chin.
  • The eyebrow and head area is bald and bulbus. The head and eyebrow area protrudes from the wearers head.
  • If a mask is worn the opening is concealed under the robe.
  • The costumer has sharp fangs.

  • The inner robe is made from a natural fiber and is blue in color. The color most resembles slate or royal.
  • The inner robe is long sleeved and flowing below the belt, it extends to the floor.

  • The claws are the same color as the mask and have pointed tips. The tips can be rounded to avoid injury.
  • The same blue color on the robe is also present as fingerless gloves on the hand.




DZ Bib chestplate.jpg Chest Plate
  • The chest plate is weathered and made from a rigid material and is grey in color.
  • There is a flat top with approximately 3/4 inch circles evenly spaced across.
  • In the center there is an oval disk that is detailed with a simple edge.
  • There is a simple blue obi wrapped atop the disk. The fabric is made from the same color and design as the inner robe.
  • Below the dome are lines evenly spaced and compacted. These lines are approximately 4 mm wide and end in a flat edge at the bottom.
  • The edges can be toned in bronze or rust to show weathering; however, the bracer is also toned and weathered in the same fashion.

  • The sash is made of the same material as the inner robe and is wrapped over the top of the chest plate, above the costumers hips.

  • The robe is made from a brown natural fiber that is brown in color.
  • The robe has three tiered layers of fabric around the top that wraps around the back.
  • The three fabric tiers are evenly spaced. straight cut and end just above the knees.
  • The sleeves end just above the costumers elbow and are large and billowing.
  • The robe is floor length.

  • The bracer is weathered in the same fashion as the chest piece and made from a rigid material that is grey in color.
  • There is a flat top and bottom with approximately 3/4 inch circles evenly spaced around.
  • The closure is concealed behind the arm and is discrete.
  • The top and bottom of the bracer has a thin lip.
  • The edges can be toned in bronze to show weathering; however; the bracer is also toned and weathered in the same fashion.

  • Boots are black and made from a leather or leather like material.
