Description: Commander Bly Prefix: CC Detachment: Clone Trooper Detachment Context: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Commander Bly is among the first generation of clone marshal commanders to be trained by the Advanced Recon Commando "Alpha-17". Bly, having also been trained as an Advanced Recon Commando, has a more independent mindset, allowing the commander to think "outside the manual" when it comes to the shifting of tactical situations. As a commander, it is Bly's job to act as an intermediary between the Jedi Generals and the regular clone troopers. Bly is assigned to the 327th Star Corps, under the command of Aylaa Secura.

For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met. In the page below, items listed in blue are recommended features that will improve the quality of the costume. Items listed in red are intended to further enhance the finished costume. Special Notes: • The “Animated” armor design, seen in 2008 The Clone Wars Cartoon Series, differs from the “Realistic” armor design used to create characters from the theatrical films, video games, and graphic novels. See this thread at 501stclonetroopers.com for the differences between the sculpts. (This may require an additional forum account.) • Armor parts shall be made from fiberglass, ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene), or a similar rigid material. This includes vacuum formed plastics as well as properly finished and smoothed 3D printed armor forms. See this thread at 501stclonetroopers.com for examples of acceptable and unacceptable levels of 3D print finishing. • All numerical measurements given in CTD CRLs are approximate. Measurements should be followed as closely as possible while not affecting the proportionality of costume details. Proportionality should take precedence over exact measurements.

This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type. This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum. GMLs uncertain about an aspect of submitted costume shall post questions in the appropriate DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forum. Measurements given in this document are intended to be approximate and generalized; not criteria for approval. Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size. Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GMLs and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume.

Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.

General Construction Notes Realistic style armor. As previously noted, all armor is constructed from rigid material such as fiberglass, plastic, resin, Sinatra, vacuum-formed ABS, firm rubber, metal or similar. All armor pieces are painted white with "sandy brown" and “mustard yellow” details and a matte finish, unless otherwise noted below. All paint details are scaled proportionally to armor. Painted areas are weathered with various scuff marks, chips and fading. Scuff marks and chips expose the underlying white paint. Armor has black scuff marks. Armor is weathered with shades of grey. All pieces are scaled proportionally to the wearer.

	Helmet - Phase II Helmet mohawk on dome is painted a mustard yellow color. There is a sandy brown stripe down the center of the helmet that ends at the nose area and squares off at the rear of the helmet. Black eye lens. Macro-binoculars are mounted to the helmet. Helmet frown is charcoal grey in color. Wire or plastic mesh is utilized inside the helmet to cover the open pieces of the frown. Ear caps are painted a dark grey. Dark blue, vertical hash marks on each side of helmet cheeks. Primer grey stripe around back of dome. Helmet has the appearance of a neck ring.
	OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Helmet has an enclosed complete neck ring that seals the helmet to the neck. Macro-binoculars are able to move up and down.

	Under Suit Black non-textured material, either one-piece or two-piece construction with no visible zippers or logos.

	Pauldron Pauldron is Episode III style. The mantle over the left shoulder is colored burnt sienna. Right shoulder mantle is all black. The paneling on the remainder of the pauldron is black. A ammo belt is strung on the right side of the Pauldron.

Shoulder Armor Armor is painted matte or satin white. Sandy Brown command stripe. This is a forward facing stripe. Front part of the stripe is painted like any other command stripe. Rear part of stripe is placed in the center of the shoulder. Shoulders are tear drop in shape with all rounded edges. Shoulders are symmetrical. The armor slightly curves back at the bottom of the shoulder. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

Upper Arm Armor Armor is painted matte or satin white. Sandy brown stripe starts on the hard outside edge of the bicep and extends to the middle of the outside bicep. Stripe is not the same as the Ep.II command stripes. (2) smaller white ammo boxes are attached to the right bicep on a grey strap. One ammo box is attached to the front, and one is attached to the outside panel of the bicep. A dimple on the lower area of the back of the arm. The outside of the arm has a hard line edge at the front that turns in. The inside of the upper arm is rounded. Armor is seamless. No visible traces of how the armor was assembled are shown. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

Elbow Armor Realistic style elbow armor. Armor is painted matte or satin white. Elbow straps have a raised detail line at the top and bottom of the strap. Armor has two parallel dashed detail slots on each outside edge of elbow at the strap connection. Elbows are mirror images of each other with a notched area on the outside of the elbow above the detail marks. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

	Forearm Armor Armor is painted matte or satin white. A two inch sandy brown stripe on the top part of the forearm. On the right arm it would cover over the compad. Compad remains white. This design is matched on the left forearm. Right forearm has a compad with (8) small buttons, (1) large main button, and (1) slightly smaller rectangular button. Optional: Left arm has a second compad, an outline of a compad, or just the stripe. Both left and right forearms are mirror images of each other. Forearm tops have a flattened triangular area with a ridge that comes to a point at the top of the forearm.
	OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Compad has detail antenna on its left. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.
	OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): Instead of a hard edge the top of the forearm has a bone ridge. Armor is seamless. No visible traces of how the armor was assembled are shown.

	Hand Plates Armor is painted matte or satin white. A two inch sandy brown stripe on center of hand plate. Hand plates are mirror images of each other. Hand plates have a top curving ridge that comes to a point over the index or middle finger, just past the main knuckle of the hand. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

	Gloves Black over the wrist gloves made of leather, nylon, or other low pile fabrics. Gloves cover any exposed skin. Gloves do not show any labels or logos when the armor is worn.

Chest Armor Armor is painted matte or satin white. Sandy Brown command stripe, approximately 2 inches wide, is marked center vertical, from neck to upper return curve. Two detail slots on right breast. Chest and Back armor match together at the sides with no open gap. A seam line is present. Shoulder straps are slotted into the detail ridges of the top connection points. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.

	Chest Ammo Belt (3) white ammo boxes are attached to a grey strap on right side of chest.

	Back Armor Armor is painted matte or satin white. Rear center of armor has a detailed that contains (4) circles. Under the circles, at the left side of the back there are (2) parallel lines. Right side of back has squared detail. Back and Chest armor match together at the sides with no open gap. A seam line is present. Shoulder straps should be placed underneath the chest to connect to the back. Shoulder straps are slotted into the the detail ridges of the top connection points. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.
	OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Highly detailed resin insert replaces softer details.

	Abdomen Armor Armor is painted matte or satin white. Four 1/4" diameter holes per side on indents of abdomen. Eight holes total. Abdomen armor wraps around the wearers body and is sealed at the sides or back. Abdomen is completely contained under the chest and back armor. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.
	OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Abdomen is seamless at the sides and closed in the back. A detail plate covers the seam line and hides all work.

	Codpiece and Posterior Armor Armor is painted matte or satin white. Codpiece and Posterior armor connect at the hips. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.
	OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Hips are connected via a snap with the correct detailed shape of the armor at the connection point.

	Belt Realistic style belt, boxes, and detonator. Armor is painted matte or satin white. The front of the belt and front two belt boxes are painted mustard yellow. Belt front, between front boxes, has three vertical rectangle indents which are spaced apart by two protruding rectangle areas. The rest of the belt is flat surfaced with raised edging on top and bottom that run along the rest of the belt. Eight Belt Boxes are attached to Belt, with four on each side. The two largest Boxes are in front with angled top surface that is higher toward the center. The smallest boxes are located behind the front boxes, about 1/8 inch apart and have an angled end on top. The medium sized matching boxes, with flat top cover, are about 1/8 inch from smallest boxes. Left rear box is spaced closer to detonator and has two square buttons in the top left corner, and two dashed indented detail marks on bottom right. Right rear box is spaced closer to detonator and has a bar with two small cylinders centered, and two dashed indented detail marks on bottom left. A detonator is centered and attached to back of Belt. Detonator tube is about 2 1/4 inch diameter with wider detailed end caps. Seven horizontally aligned square buttons are on left side of tube, facing backwards. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.
	OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Boxes are notched on back and fit flush to belt.
	OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): Back of belt, between rear boxes, has horizontal ribbing. Detonator connects to back of belt without any visible clips and is firmly secured in horizontal position.

	Kama Kama is made from a heavy material like canvas or a tight weave burlap. Kama is a khaki or tea brown color. Lower center of Kama has a triangle split. Kama aligns with front belt boxes. Kama extends to the bottom of the knee armor. There are two straps from the Kama that connect to a command buckle centered to the front of the belt.

	Holsters Hung from the belt and rest at the hip on each side.

	Thigh Armor Thighs are painted mustard yellow. A sandy brown vertical stripe is painted on the front of each thigh. Front of thigh armor has a flat triangular area near the knee. From the top of the triangle a ridge line travels up the front of the thigh to the top edge. Rear of the thigh has an indention. Armor is weathered with shades of grey.
	OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Outside of lower portion of the thighs comes to a point and inner lower end is rounded. Armor is seamless. No visible traces of how the armor was assembled are shown.

	Knee Armor Armor is painted matte or satin white. Knees have a sandy brown stripe that starts at the top and runs vertically down to the bottom of the knee. Knees wrap around the front of the leg. From top center a raised detail line is present. Knees are strapped to the leg via a white strap with a raised center area that wraps around the leg and connects on both sides of the Knee.
	OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Center strap is primer grey. Connection between the knee and the strapping has a detail clip.

	Lower Leg Armor Armor is painted matte or satin white. Lower Legs are mirror images of each other. The front of the armor has a triangular detail at the top of the leg and a hard ridge line down the front of the shin. Back of lower leg armor features arched indentation, just under the calf, that follows down to the ankle. Bottom of this indentation features a smaller arch detail at the heel. Outside of the calf is closed. Calf can have an access area on the inside of the leg. Calves are seamless and have a trap door access through the indent in the rear of the lower leg.

Boots White, ankle high or tall enough to cover the ankle and eliminate any black undersuit visible at the ankle area in armor. Boots are lace-less and have flat soles. The boots have armor detail to include a natural seam at the toe and a strap that goes over the top of the foot with two protruding disks at each side of the strap. This strap is painted mustard yellow. Boot has a second mustard yellow stripe over the front of the boot and aligned below the boot strap. There are no markings or labels from the shoe makers. Boot soles are grey.

Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.

	DC-17 Hand Blaster Manufactured by BlasTech Industries, DC-17 pistols are carried in quick-release holsters. They are widely recognized for their unusually high stopping power and firing rate. The number of pistols carried is dependent on the amount of holsters. This is the realistic variant of the DC-17 blaster.

	DC-15S Blaster Manufactured by BlasTech Industries, the DC-15S is smaller in scale than the DC-15A blaster rifle. Although it has a shorter range than that of the “A” model, it is easier to handle with a higher rate of fire and features a folding stock for braced firing. Realistic Clone Style DC-15S Blaster. Blaster may be scratch built out of plastic, wood, metal or cast in resin. Blaster has realistic Episode II or Episode III details: Wire frame sight. Folding stock. Twelve radiator fins evenly spaced along the length of barrel. Igniter detail knobs. Charge magazine clip on right side. Total length is approximately 26 inches (66 cm). Because of the scale, the Hasbro version is incorrect.
	OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Charge magazine detail on clip is metal to gun metal grey in color. Detail bolts and screws are metal to gun metal grey in color. Igniter knobs have some copper coloring. Blaster is weathered.
	OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): Functioning Blue LED is installed in barrel.

	DC-15A Blaster Rifle Manufactured by BlasTech Industries, the DC-15A is a Tibanna gas cartridge powered weapon. Hyper-ionized blue plasma bolts are more than capable of penetrating armored units. Exceptionally effective against both droids and contemporary targets. Realistic Clone Style DC-15A Blaster Rifle. Blaster rifle is scratch built out of plastic, wood, metal or cast in resin. Blaster has realistic Episode II or Episode III details: Flip up sight in down position. Ten radiator fins are evenly spaced along the length of the barrel. Power setting adjuster detail lever. Sniper Scope attached under rifle in storage position. Charge magazine clip on left side. Igniter detail knobs. Total length is approximately 55 inches (139.7 cm). Because of the scale, the Hasbro version is not allowed.
	OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Charge magazine detail on clip is metal to gun metal grey in color. Detail bolts and screws are metal to gun metal grey in color. Igniter has some copper coloring. Power setting adjuster detail lever is metal or gun metal grey. Sniper scope is metal or gun metal grey. Blaster is weathered.
	OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): Functioning Blue LED is installed in barrel.
