Qi’ra was a human female from the planet Corellia who lived during the reign of the Galactic Empire. She grew up on the streets along with Han Solo before becoming part of an opulent life working for the Crimson Dawn gang.



This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.


  • This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum.
  • GMLs uncertain about an aspect of submitted costume shall post questions in the appropriate DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forum.
  • Measurements given in this document are intended to be approximate and generalized; not criteria for approval.
  • Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size.
  • Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GMLs and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume.


Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.



DZ Qira Hairface.jpg Hair and Face
  • The hair is brown in color and pulled into a pony tail and lightly curled.
  • There are short bangs reaching the top of the wearer’s eyebrows.
    • The bangs are styled to the wearer's right side with an off-centre parting on the left.
  • This can be achieved with the wearer’s own hair, or a high quality, properly styled wig.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The ponytail is curled and held back by a braided band that appears similar in color to the hair. This band wraps twice.
  • The wearer has black eyeliner, natural smokey eyeshadow and a muted red lipstick.
  • There is a highlight in the hair approximately 1 inch wide, located above the ear on both sides.

  • The jacket ends below the costumer’s natural waistline.
  • The jacket is cream or light beige in color and made from suede or suede cloth.
  • There is a large collar that has an inset of fur that resembles dark brown mixed with black sheep skin.
    • The sheepskin lining does not need to continue the full length of the jacket interior but the endpoint inside the jacket should not be seen.
  • The tips of the collar when laid open extend to the end of the wearer’s shoulders.
    • When the front flap of the jacket is closed, the tips of the open collar should lay against the front of the shoulders, and not extend past them.
  • There are two rows of dark brown tubing extending down the inside of the right front flap, extending from the code cylinder greeblie to near the bottom of the inside of the jacket, which is visible when the collar is splayed open.
  • The inside edge of the jacket lapel is made from the same material as the main body of the jacket, up to the line of the sheepskin collar lining.
  • There are three equally-spaced rows of double stitched lines along the collar.
  • Dark brown piping runs the entirety of the outer edge of the collar and extends down to the outer edge of the front lapels of the jacket.
  • Small black Code Cylinders are attached on each side of the jacket collar, connected at the joining of the sheepskin insert and outer collar.
    • The Code Cylinders have accurate dosimeter clips on top, in matching gloss black color to the cylinder shafts.
  • The sleeves are form fitting and tailored to the wearer.
  • There are knife pleats on the inside of both sleeves; they run the full length of the sleeve to the cuff.
    • The knife pleats down the underside of the sleeves have piping which matches the main color of the jacket on both sides
    • At the back, the piping continues up into the raglan sleeve atop the shoulder.
  • The cuff has brown piping at the top where it connects to the sleeve.
  • There is dark brown piping starting at the shoulder seam, along the outside edge of the sleeve, ending at the piping for the cuff.
  • There is an underarm vent that is finished with a facing of the same material as the jacket.
  • The back of the jacket has princess seams that have piping matching the jacket color.
  • The jacket fastens right side over left, with 4 (four) bar hook closures.
  • The front panels have piping along the attached edge which matches the main color of the jacket.
    • The side seem panels do not have piping.

  • There is a wide waistband, that is approximately two (2) inches in tall on the bottom edge of the jacket.
    • The waistband starts next to the centre front panel of the jacket and is accented on the top with piping made from the same material as the jacket.
  • There is a small rectangular greeblie located on the right side of the waistband.
    • The greeblie is rectangular in shape, is black or very dark grey in color with inlay and squares and features a single red square on the left.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The jacket extends just past the costumers natural waistline.
  • The jacket is lined with a black material.
  • The trim on the inside edge of the jacket is small dark brown or black soft plastic, rubber or vinyl tubing.
  • The sleeves are raglan style with a shoulder seam and wrap around stitching with an inset sleeve.
  • There are between 32 to 36 knife pleats that are stitched down.
  • The rectangular greeblie is fixed into a pocket.
  • The rectangular greeblie has a translucent red push button on the left side.
  • If worn open the jacket is void of hooks.
  • The stitching on the collar is double top stitched, every 2cm, in five (5) parallel columns from the outer edge of the collar. The fourth (4th) line of stitching is covered by the code cylinder and the fifth (5th) line is very short due to the sheepskin fur lining.





DZ Qira ShirtFB.jpg Shirt
  • Simple V neck crossover shirt made from black peachskin or washed silk fabric.
  • There is a thick trim around the neck that extends the full length of the wrap front.
  • The shirt wraps around the wearer, with the left side wrapping over the top of the right side.
  • There is a wide waistband at the bottom of the shirt. This band is wider than the trim around the neck.
  • The shirt waistband has ties at the back.
    • When tied at the back, the ends hang down.
  • The sleeves have a loose fit, and end above the costumers elbow.
  • The shirt has a keyhole opening that closes with a button and a loop at the back of the neck.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The top is made from actual silk fabric.
  • The trim around the neck is approximately two (2) inches wide.
  • The waistband at the base of the shirt is approximately two and half (2.5) inches wide.
  • The keyhole opening has a small hidden fastening, slightly above the waistband.
  • The waistband ties are fastened through a D ring that is attached on the left side of the waistband, below the small hidden fastening.




DZ Qira pants.jpg Pants
  • Black high-waisted, wide-legged wrap pants are worn.
    • The wraps fold from the outside hip to the front.
    • The pants have two darts at the back, making the pants more fitted to the wearer.
  • There is no visible closure to the pants.
  • The pants are made of a black birds-eye or a coarse pique fabric such as wool, cotton jacquard or a cotton-poly blend.
  • The pants have an split that extends from the hem to the costumer knee.
    • This split is hidden by the wrap panels.
  • The pants do not extend past the soles of the costumers boots.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The pants feature a blind hem.
  • The pants are lined with a black satin-like material.
    • The wrap panels are also lined.
  • The pants are made of a cotton blend.
  • The hem of the pants is invisible.
  • The pants fit well to the costumer.




DZ Qira Belt2.jpg Belt
  • Belt is black leather or leather like material and approximately two and a half (2.5) inches wide. There is white trim at the top and bottom made from a similar material as the rest of the belt.
  • The belt has two strips of decorative white stitching on the belt, they run parallel with the white trim edges.
  • The belt is curved to fit over the costumers hips.
  • The belt closes with velcro at the back of the belt, and should be as un-noticeable as possible.
  • The belt has a silver metal or metal-like buckle that folds around the belt and is worn on the front of the costumers left hip.
  • A holster made from black leather or leather like material is attached to the belt at the costumers right hip.
    • It features an insert made from white leather, or leather-like material that is stitched in with black thread to form the back seam.
  • Just in front of the holster is a leather strip sewn to the belt, to create four (4) loops.
    • Inside the loops are four (4) silver greeblies. The greeblies have detailed brass points at the top and bottom.
    • The greeblies are linked into two (2) pairs by a silver clip with black accents on the top and bottom.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The belt trim is approximately two (2) mm wide.
  • The buckle is approximately three (3) inches by two and a half (2.5) inches.
  • The belt buckle wraps slightly around the belt.
  • The loops for the silver greeblies are approximately one (1) inch tall.
  • The belt must be made from genuine leather.
  • The trim on the belt must be made from white leather and has to be stitched on the belt.
  • The belt has to be closed by velcro at the back.
  • The holster is made from rigid leather with a white leather insert with black top stitching.




DZ Qira BootsL2.jpg Boots
  • Boots are black leather or leather-like material and have a moderate heel.
  • If a zipper is present it is located on the inside of the boot.
  • On both sides of the boot a small greeblie with a red dot on the left and a metal oval at the bottom is attached to the top portion of the boot.
  • Below this top greeblie is a set of three (3) small bars no wider than the greeblie.
  • A Black leather ankle spat on the boot covers the front and wraps around the sides.
  • The spat has a boarder of white stitching and there are two rivets holding a leather strap around the back of the boot.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • There is a thin strip of elastic fabric running the length of the boot at the back.
  • There is a zipper present on the inside of the boot.
  • The spats are secured by chicago screws.
  • The boots are made from genuine leather.
  • The boots have detailed stitching present on the heel cup.




DZ qira necklace.png Necklace
  • A thin silver chain with a rectangular bar. The center is recessed.
  • The necklace is attached at the right and left side of the bar.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The bar is approximately 1.5 inches long by .5cm tall.
  • The edges of the bar are rounded.
  • There is no hook on the bar design and is flush against the chain.




DZ Qira earrings.jpg Earrings
  • Simple chunky huggie earrings that are silver in color and wrap around the bottom of the costumer’s ear.




DZ Qira Ring2.jpg Ring
  • Worn on the costumer’s right hand pinky and is a single black ring with a round green translucent jewel in the center.
  • The ring has a glossed finish.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The top of the ring is slightly raised where the green jewel is located.




DZ Qira Bracelet2.jpg Bracelet
  • The bracelet is worn on the costumer’s left wrist and is silver in color.
  • It is a wide cuff style bracelet.
  • The bracelet has two rectangles cut into the back side of the opening.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The bracelet is made of metal.
  • The bracelet is approximately three (3) mm thick.




Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.


DZ Qira KesselRun Cape.jpg Cape
  • The cape is made from a blood red wool or wool-like material with a tight fabric weave.
  • The cape is wide and floor length.
  • The cape is lined with black fabric.
  • There is a military style collar made from black leather or leather-like fabric which is loose fitting, circular and is attached to the yoke making a slight V neck curve in the front.
  • The yoke is made from a black leather or leather-like fabric.
  • The yoke folds over on the front to the left side to create a triangle shape.
  • The back of the yoke is square and laid flat against the costumers back.
  • The opening on the yoke has a small gold pin with a rectangle black enamelled design at the top.
    • The bottom of the pin curls under the overlapping fold of the yoke.
  • There are two seams at the back of the cape, descending from the corner of the yoke to the hem, forming a ¾ circle cape.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The cape is wool.
  • The yoke is made from leather.
  • The cape is lined with a black satin-like material.
  • The collar is approximately two (2) inches tall.




DZ Qira nails.jpg Nails
  • The costumer’s nails are painted in a dark metallic color.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The costumer’s nails are painted black metallic with red overtones.




DZ Qira brand.jpg Brand
  • Crimson Dawn brand is created using makeup or prosthetic, it is located on the costumer’s inner right wrist.
  • The brand is partially concealed by the jackets sleeve.
  • Darker than the costumer’s skin tone in color.
  • The design is a circular shape with another half circle.




DZ Qira Communicator Belt.jpg Communicator
  • Communicator with silver details and a small red button.
  • The device is as tall as the belt.
  • Communicator is affixed onto the belt just behind the holster.




Qira blaster.jpg Blaster
  • Double-Barrel Blaster is silver in color.
  • A replica of the Monlitzer S-195 is acceptable.
