Sustainability and business need to go hand in hand." 🙌 Friederike is responsible for sustainability topics at the Bosch Home Comfort Group.🏡 Joining our doctoral program in 2010, she has dedicated herself to anchoring sustainability in the company's strategy. In the past two years, Friederike's team has worked on the following focus topics: 🌿 The CO2 strategy, tackling CO2 emissions in the supply chain and during product usage. These emissions are influenced by various factors, both internal (e.g., design, materials) and external (e.g., housing insulation, energy grid mix). The team supports the goal of the Bosch Home Comfort Group to reduce such CO2 emissions. 🌿 Lifecycle Assessment (LCA): Utilizing scientific methods, data, and tools for a holistic sustainability evaluation of products. 🌿 Sustainable Packaging: introducing eco-friendly materials, e.g. replacing EPS with paper pulp, and packaging standardization and modularization to increase efficiency. Yesterday, our joint venture "ESMC", together with TSMC, Infineon Technologies, and NXP Semiconductors held a groundbreaking ceremony to officially mark the initial phase of land preparation for our first semiconductor fab in Dresden, Germany. 🤝 💬 "The ESMC wafer fab is to be built right next door to our own Bosch wafer fab in Dresden. So now we will be able to watch it emerge and grow with our own eyes. We're looking forward to that, just as we are to collaborating closely with our partners TSMC, Infineon, and NXP. Together, we will take Europe a decisive step forward in a key industry and ensure that advanced chips are available for industrial enterprises here," says Bosch chairman Stefan Hartung. 🌊 Cleaning up coastal debris and enhancing the harbor's ecosystem: That's the aim of Wounded Nature Working Veterans, in Charleston, South Carolina. Wounded Nature Working Veterans is a nonprofit dedicated to cleaning up debris in the Charleston Harbor, and laying oyster beds. They’ve already removed over 1,000 tons of debris, making a significant impact on the environment. By increasing domestic seafood populations, the initiative provides a vital protein source for lower-income coastal families and improves Low Country residents' overall quality of life. 🍃 Supporting these efforts is the Bosch Community Fund, the corporate foundation for Bosch USA in North America, which promotes the enrichment of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and environmental stewardship for students and teachers in Bosch site locations. Empowering younger generations: In Mexico, the "Albergue Los Pinos" project is helping to improve lives by providing vulnerable children, adolescents, and their families with housing, nutrition, and education. 🏠 Thanks to this initiative, supported by Fundación Robert Bosch México and funded through donations by Primavera e.V. (an organization of Bosch associates), young people now sleep better on new mattresses and bedding 🛏️, enjoy improved hygiene, and benefit from self-care programs. More than 40 parents and tutors have also received training, helping to improve the quality of life of their community.
