Ever heard of the BASF Smart Practice Platform? It’s a hub for sharing innovative practices and fostering #continuousimprovement. Operated by our colleagues in Operational Excellence Consulting, this platform enables #BASF colleagues worldwide to identify optimization opportunities and implement measures to increase #efficiency. With over 2800 real-world examples from various areas of operations, including #production, #analytics, #quality, #R&D, and site #logistics, the platform serves as a source of inspiration and knowledge exchange. All these examples, contributed by passionate BASF colleagues, have led to improved process reliability, increased capacity, enhanced #quality, and greater employee efficiency. In the past six months alone, the platform has achieved an estimated improvement potential of close to €10 million - with very limited investment. This can be attributed to the application of various #LEAN methods, such as technical process observation, process mapping, Six Sigma, 5S, visual management, and digitalization. Petra Neumann, PhD, MBA, senior project manager in the practice “Transformation Enablement”, says: “Thanks to the Smart Practice Platform, BASF is able to continually eliminate waste and transform its operations. We'll continue using this tool to drive innovation and excellence across our global sites.”
