NIO is expanding into Tesla’s territory with its new mass-market Onvo brand. The brand’s first model, the Onvo L60, will take on Tesla’s best-selling Model Y. Starting at around $30,000 (219,900 yuan), NIO’s new electric SUV undercuts the Model Y by about $4,000 (30,000 yuan) in China. With the first batch of stores opening next week, NIO looks to get new Onvo models out quickly.

NIO’s semi-solid state EV battery supplier ramps output as 621-mi range ET7 rolls out

NIO and its suppliers are forging a new path in China’s EV market. WeLion New Energy Technology, NIO’s semi-solid-state EV battery maker, saw a 31% increase in installations last month. The growth comes as NIO officially began renting its 150 kWh battery pack for the new ET7 this month, enabling over 621 (1,000 km) CLTC range.

Chinese premium EV developer NIO celebrated a production milestone this week, rolling its 500,000th passenger vehicle off its assembly line at its F2 plant in Hefei.
