What is the problem with Imamat or Successorship After the Last Prophet of God?
editHi there, I saw that you have tagged this book for deletion, But I don't understand why you don't consider it as a NPOV. Of course there is some muslim-POV in it but it is assumed that muslims are going to read it not anyone who doesn't know what Islam is, right?
If you think it should be moved elsewhere then suggest me a place to move it. I personally don't think that deletion of documents be a good Idea, instead correcting them may be better. Spoiling one's contributions is not a good idea.
Thanks, I am looking forward for your comments.
I moved the book titled Imamat myself. I will work on it offline and put it there later, I have only left the subjects.

Image copyright problem with Image:MFSG-CH1-Galaxy-irreg.jpg
editDerbeth,
Maybe you can help me out with this Go-NoGo decision. You see my ebook: Morphological Flows and Sustainable Growth is already up (www.mbscientific.com), under the banner Evolutionary Philosophy. It touches all manners of disciplines from physics to chemistry to biology,..
To make the subject matters intuitive I have used all manners of pictorials, and media in general. Therein is the problem. Most have been gathered from .gov and .edu resources. Though I have tried to get the copyright status from as many sources as I could, I have to admit I couldn't do it for them all to the amount of scpecifity that wikibooks apparently requires.
As far as I can tell all of these .gov, .edu images can come under the fairuse policy (I added the tag to this particular image). After all they are from scholarly, free articles on the net, explicitly writen for scholarly work. To be further on the safe side, I have added a hyperlink in the text preceding the image, referencing the net location of the original.
To be honest, I really don't think I can take it any further. To be expected to accertain the ownership of every single image to a particular individual and then get a certified licence.. whell I have to hire a team of researchers to do that?
So here is the go-nogo decision, can scholarly resources be used in wikibooks (while referenced) and be acceptable under the wiki-fairuse criteria?
Image Copyright
editWell, then apparently there is an inherent contradiction in the logic of wikibook philosophy. On one hand it promotes an open educational platform, which inherenetly promotes past academic expressions of thought (referenced). Yet if that academic expression is rendered in an image then it is barred, unless licenced. So an academic expression in text is ok, but, image, media, not so much.
There is one way to remedy this. If the browser code the you use in wiki article presentation space could interpret:
<img src="http://www.sobemike.com/mike.jpg">
i.e. render a remote image or media, like any browser, or even the original mozilla code, then the problem is solved.
Till then wikibooks requires an image to be uploaded, thereby marked as open source, which may or may not be in conflict with the original intent of the image author (whatever that maybe in an academic setting.. how would you even find out, these images are bounced around and modified countless trimes as a rule).
So again the ultimate solution would be the rendering of remote media in the wiki presentation code.. just implement the existing mozilla code.
Is that doable?
Vandalism
editThanks for the revert on my user page.--Az1568 07:37, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
I have nominated User:Swift for adminship. He currently only has 3 votes (myself, sbjohnny, and withinfocus). Since I nominated him, I don't think I should be the one to make the final decision, so I will leave that up to you.
Also, I have nominated by bot for the bot flag, and currently have a small number of votes for that. When the time comes, could you decide on that one way or the other? --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 15:26, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Could I ask you for a vote of support?
editOne more thing to smooth out the transwiki process... Wikibooks:Request_for_enabling_special:import#Additional_request. We're asking that "Transwiki:" be given namespace status so we can import to it directly. --SB_Johnny | talk 20:03, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Religious Texts
editGiven the number of texts on the topic of religion that have appeared on WB:VFD lately, I think it might be wise of us to specifically define what kinds of writing on the topic are allowed, and what kinds of writing are not allowed. If you let me know specifically what your objections are on the subject, I could start writing a draft at Wikibooks:Religion texts (or something similar). I'm still of the opinion that some books on the topic can remain, so long as they don't violte NPOV (or they violate it as little as most other books do). --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 21:55, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
I've temporarily given this bot the bot flag. It is a bot that will tag all the unlicensed images (there are approximately 3000 of them, i think) as being unlicensed. In a few weeks (2 or 3, at the least), User:SBJohnny, myself, and a few other people are going to move to delete all the untagged images that are older then September of this year. After this bot marks the images as untagged (which will neatly categorize them), we can block the bot, and have the flag removed (pending an RfA to keep the flag). I hope you don't mind. --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 18:50, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

editHe's got full support now (even from Panic). Whiteknight nominated him, so would you mind doing the deed? We need him. --SB_Johnny | talk 19:21, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Email...
editI just sent you an email containing the code for my bot, and a few explanations on how to use it. I sent it to the email address you provided for the textbook-l mailing list, so I hope that is the right one to use. I've been using these programs alot in the past few days, so I know they work correctly with no bad side effects. Let me know if you need any other information to me.
PS, I've been working on fixing up the code to make it more readable and presentable. I want to release the source code to the general public soonish, when I figure out what license to use, and how, precisely, i want to host it. --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 02:09, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- I got your email, and I figured I would send you a reply on here so I don't tempt your spam filter. I have two versions of the regexp program: The one that I didn't send you addressed all your concerns, but it only allows the user to target a single page. It allows you to post a custom edit summary, preview the changes, and even save your regular expressions into standalone modules. I could send you that version if you would like. Generally, this program is intended only for users who are familiar with perl, so I haven't done much with syntax checking (although I could definately try to do something).
- Second, thank you for making any changes to improve the readability/portability of my code. I find that I get a little sloppy when I program on windows (i ignore case sensitivity, etc), and I don't currently have a linux box to play with. Again, thank you very much for all your help and comments. --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 19:08, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
CC-NC
editI didn't realize noncommercial licenses were not allowed. I think that was the only template I created with that license. Is that mentioned in the copyrights policy? --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 19:21, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

AWB
editHi Derbeth - I was going to put this on WK's page but I see he is away & I'll feel happier when one of you knows.
Thought I should probably bring this to your attention. I'm now making more use of w:WP:AWB and there is plenty of work ahead. It is a powerful tool for cleanup, categorisation, re-cats plus typos etc. It is not a bot but does have an "auto" option (I'm not and would not use that). My concern is that on WP you have to be vetted to use it (min 500 main space edits to be considered), here so long as you have an account you can run it. I do feel that there is a possibility for misuse by novices or vandals (it can do quite a bit [2] quickly). As far as I am aware Az1568 and myself are the only users on Wikibooks currently. You may not see it as an issue but I would prefer you to know now rather than ask later.
Hope you don't mind me bringing it to you Derbeth - let me know if you need any further info --Herby talk thyme 13:07, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

- had enough - read the contribs, long day, tired, pissed off, gone for now, I have no idea what is going on and what really did seem like a good idea seems singularly unappreciated - sorry --Herby talk thyme 19:44, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- OK let's start this with "I was very tired". However when Johnny asked if I minded being checkusered, the answer was fine (& I actually think doing it on any RfA is a good idea). However I got no answer as to why and knew the above had been posted I really did feel that giving me the rights with the checkuser pending was inappropriate - I was too tired to do anything more rational - hopefully you will understand.
- Add to that the fact that I had created the staff account (I've mailed the password to WK and you are welcome to it) and people started getting shirty about it because they hadn't read the rationale and again hopefully you will understand. I'm guessing I'm not the only one "watching" this so it will serve as an apology to others too. --Herby talk thyme 11:27, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

IP block info
editHi Derbeth - sorry to bug you, some advice if/when you have a minute. The IP I "underblocked" yesterday, I can't easily see where DNSstuff says it might be an "exploitable server" - am I missing something obvious (or doing the wrong search)? While I'm at it am I "safe" using the default checked boxes on blocking? Be good to learn - thanks --Herby talk thyme
Hum - equally - how do I (can I) unblock? There was a forum spam type one today, I checked contributions and there were none so I blocked for a day. Then checked DNS stuff and found it was a Russian IP, using your logic of yesterday I decided at least a month was more appropriate but could see a way to unblock? --Herby talk thyme 13:30, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the advice. I am trying to think before I do things. I did check WP on todays one and there was nothing there (even contribs). I've changed it to 1 month based on the fact that it is (apparently) an ad bot from Russia [3] - hadn't thought to use the spam test - sorry --Herby talk thyme 15:49, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Check-user tool request
editCross posted to Whiteknight
Could I get your comments on the mumfum issue. Several user accounts have had similarities so it is likely that it is the same person. My understanding of check-user is that you can look up the IP addresses which these users have used. Is this correct? Can you also see if there are other users that come from that IP address? --Swift 20:22, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

autoconfirmed mean (when I'm right) only registed user can move, but thats default on the Wikimedia servers.
I think it makes more sens when you change it to move=sysop.
Or is autoconfirmed her also "against" new users?
I don't know how this stuff is in the EN Wikis (many things are different, example you can Import, but where on DE.Wikibooks not), but better ask then again some thing like mumfuns moving vandalism ...

- No, autoconfirmed allow normall users to move the page.

One of those "you shouldn't assume things". Each morning (to me) I deal with the day's mumfun but post it on ViP. Wikibooks Newsletter, Volume 1
editThis is a short newsletter that is being distributed to all active wikibookians. You are getting this message because you are recognized as an established contributor to the project. This newsletter will be distributed on a regular basis to help share news, information, and tips. It comes from a bot account, User:The Staff. User:The Staff is currently operated by a team of wikibooks admins, the complete list of which is available on the user page of the bot. If you would like to not receive this newletter anymore, please remove your name from the list at Wikibooks:Active wikibookians.
The work you do at Wikibooks is greatly appreciated. However there are plenty of other opportunities for you to get involved and help us to create a thriving Wikibooks community. We are sure that there are things we can do to help you and your understanding of Wikibooks and similarly there are certainly things you could do to help Wikibooks become a better place.
We would like to ask all wikibookians to add the Bulletin Board to your watchlists. The Bulletin Board is a fast and easy way for wikibookians to communicate important news and events to the entire community. If you have important news to share with the community, you can feel free to add your own entry to that page.
If you have general questions or comments about Wikibooks, you are welcome to post a message on The Staff Lounge, a free discussion area. Your input would also be welcomed in the Votes for Deletion and Requests for Adminship discussion pages. These pages are all active discussion areas that help to shape the Wikibooks community as a whole.
Sometimes it is easy to forget that the Wikibooks community is much larger and more diverse then the people who work in a single book, or on a single bookshelf. Hopefully, together we can all make Wikibooks a better place, and a more valuable educational resource.

Common.css
editI notice you've tried to edit common.css and then reverted your changes because they didn't work. I may be able to help. Which skin are you using?
Ok I believe I've fixed it. Take a look at LaTeX --dark lama 18:02, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like I'm wrong. Its got something to do with the monobook skin though. I'll keep working at it. --dark lama 18:37, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- Ok what seems to be happening is printable just removes a few things from pages and skips javascript files, but continues to use the stylesheets for whatever skin a person has set. Since printable is still considered to be screen rather then print media there seems to be no way to effect the printable version without effecting how things look in general. Wikipedia has a similar issue from what I've seen. I think a bug report would be needed to fix this problem, such as suggesting that there should be something like MediaWiki:Printable.css that is used when printable=yes is true and not including any other stylesheets when that is the case. --dark lama 21:20, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Arbitration, etc
editYou are probably aware of the arbitration case against User:Panic2k4, and the nonsense involved with it. User:Withinfocus and I have ended the arbitration, and blocked panic for 6 months. It is probably better that you don't get involved with the process, because if Matt and I get into trouble over this, you will be the only active bureaucrat left.
I don't think we will get in trouble, but I want to be cautious. I will talk to you later Derbeth, have a good day, and don't be too busy! --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 14:36, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

New pages
editGiven the general level of absence around and the fact that you tagged the page can I seek your opinion on the pages that link to New Media Art. Help! I'm new. Can this be a wikibook?
editHi. I've been putting together a wiki-version of an academic art book called New Media Art, by Mark Tribe. Mark teaches an entire course based on the book at Brown University, and I know it is used in classes at other institutions. I started to put it up on wikibooks, since that seemed to be where it fit best (rather than wikipedia or wikiversity). You can see the content so far at: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/New_Media_Art. I was soon warned by two editors that it was not appropriate content -- that it was encyclopedic/macropedic and thus not a "textbook." Though the content of the book is structured in an encyclopedic way (a series of sections, each on a particular artist or artist group), it can still be considered an art historical text. The introduction, for instance, gives a broad overview of the New Media art tradition and ties together the artists discussed in the rest of the book. I've already been told that the content I've put up so far will probably be deleted. Where does this book belong, if not in wikibooks?
Your help is greatly appreciated! I'm new to the whole wiki communication thing, but I think you can leave me a comment on my "talk" page: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/User_talk:Lblissett
Thanks again.
Fair Use
editI have a few points to make:
- I should not have edited Wikibooks:Copyrights. Thank you for reverting my edit, I was away all weekend and could not do it myself.
- Wikibooks:Image use policy and Wikibooks:Fair use policy are both proposals, not policy. User:Iamunknown has moved my changed on the fair use policy to an unstable branch, but I do not intend to revert my changes to the image use page.
Also, it is just as likely that you are misterpreting Kat's message as I am. I dont see any evidence in that post that the WMF is interested in keeping Fair Use materials on the projects, except in a very small number of exception cases. I don't think it's good form for you to be accusing me of misinterpretation, especially not until the WMF comes out with an official clarification on the matter. Assuming good faith means admitting that I might be right about this, just as you might be right. --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 00:59, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. I'm sorry (again) for my haste. I think it's still a good idea for us to plan for the possibility that Fair Use will be severely limited or even banned completely. It can never hurt to plan. --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 01:25, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Main page
editI agree with your comments on the staff lounge. The change to the Main Page that has turned it into a Library Catalogue looks like a retrograde step. It needs an admin to change it to something more relevant (See Main Page/test) RobinH 11:46, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Your block
editI notice you have blocked User:85.14.73.190 for two years. I can find no real trace of the IP on Wikipedia or Commons - I'd be interested to know where you found out about the vandalism. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 21:09, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- I appreciate the information - it goes along the lines of some work I've been looking at recently which would be more consistent crosswiki blocks on real vandals. So
- Would you advise blocking that IP on Commons?
- This one is not blocked with us - [6] - should it be?
- Can I ask you to review your block on this one - User talk:72.177.68.38 - indef now on WP & Commons (the Wp page is entertaining and they have appealed on both Commons & Books and been rejected). I would consider indef appropriate?
- Finally could I have your views on this one [7], blocked 1 month on Books and 3 months on Commons. I am not asking you to change my block (I will do that) but I would appreciate your views (and probably on whether I should change the block on Commons?).
- My thanks --Herby talk thyme 08:40, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- Advice appreciated. I've blocked "yours" on Commons (& I'm asking the blocking admin to review the other one there - if I get no response I'll do it myself). I've re-blocked the one here as your suggestion. Feel free to let me know of any other cross wiki ones (I do keep my eyes on that page on meta too). --Herby talk thyme 12:23, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- BTW amazing the fuss meta made about the CU request, I fail to see what the issue is with such a request over vandalism - if you need an extra voice anytime let me know --Herby talk thyme 12:34, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Cross wiki vandals
editHi Derbeth - I seem to be seeing more of vandals who have now got serious blocks (& records) on Wikipedia moving on to other wikis. Not looking for policy here at all but are you happy that a "record" on WP can and should be taken into account in deciding the length of block or am I being a little harsh there? To me they are "blatant vandals" who are well aware of what they were doing on another wiki and should be treated as though the record was a common one to other wiki's.
It seems rather pointless to me, when someone is blocked for months on WP, to start with days, or even hours on here or on other wikis. Regards --Herby talk thyme 10:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks a lot for the comments; they helped solidify my decision. Johnny is now a bureaucrat. -withinfocus 21:40, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
What is Wikijunior
editWhat is Wikijunior is proposed as a policy and has been included on the Wikibooks Policies and Guidelines Voting page. Please take time to comment and express your opinion in the referendum. --xixtas talk 03:02, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Greetings from a new user ;-)
editHi Derbeth, the en and pl versions of Wikibooks cross sometimes, like in the False friends project, hence some confusion. Anyway, thanks for your notice. The English version of my welcome text is available now. All the best, Grzegorj 13:47, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm not the author, I'm creating the wikibook for the author. He gave me the content and I should do the rest.
Boring maybe
editBut more kudos Derbeth. I've started some crosswiki vandal work which seems worthwhile. Picking up CU info, black lists, WP blocks and the like. When I come to block the IPs here they are mostly already done by you! If I can work out how to do it you should get on the CU list in a day or so <g>. Hope all is well, regards --Herby talk thyme 07:22, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sure but they aren't blocked on Meta or Commons quite often - thought it had become quieter on here vandal wise (the "sign up" looked to have worked btw) --Herby talk thyme 11:42, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Template:nld
editI think the message warning you to subst: the {{nld}}
template is broken - I've seen multiple instances of {{nld}} but the template shows up as normal. It looks like you added that feature, so I wanted to get you to check what's going on there. I guess the same thing for {{no license}}
as well. Thanks! - Mike.lifeguard | talk 14:32, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
thanks
editDerbert -
Thanks for your welcome message. I am still new with wikibooks. Appreciate you comment or suggestion to improve the project.
I've already put the book on the bookshelf, and I remove the clean-edit. Is it sufficient?
Regards -
This user is part of a project to donate a number of books to Wikibooks. All the images and content that he uploads have been previously published, relicensed, and are being donated to Wikibooks. More information about this project is located at UNDP Books. We are working on getting everything properly labeled, but suffice it to say that the materials are all properly licensed. --Whiteknight (Page) (Talk) 15:01, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Asian Fan Dance 2
editHi Derbeth,
I appreciate your correction. As you can see by a review of my interactions with the wikibooks community, I am not a vandal. Besides that, I am not exactly "well-versed" in copyright law. However, this situation could serve as a very valuable learning experience for me to share with the students in the undergrad. course in which I serve as a grad. assistant -- the course whose primary textbook uses the Asian Fan Dance image as its cover.
Could you tell me where I can find an explanation of the copyright laws that I could understand without a law degree? In conversations with User:Whiteknight and User:SBJohnny, they've made it clear that copyright violations are a huge problem for the wikibooks community. If you could point me toward a source, I'd love to re-tool the pages that discuss this issue here in Wikibooks.
Last, what (specifically) can I do to the Asian Fan Dance image to render it compliant with the pertinent copyright laws? Once an image is uploaded, can one change the its copyright status? How?
Thanks for your help, Derbeth. I've seen your name all over this place and am proud to have communicated with you -- even under imperfect conditions. :)
Rename to Zachary
editI would like to rename ZJH to Zachary, to avoid confusion with having different account names (this is one of only two of my many non-bot accounts that don't share a common username, see m:User:Zachary). Thanks in advance, ZJH 07:17, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- Just to clarify, you will need to first rename Zachary to something else to make way for a rename for my account. The account does pass the criteria for usurpation per Wikipedia's policy. ZJH 07:18, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the info.
editThanks, Derbeth. I sure do appreciate you fixing the image for me. I assure you that, in the future, I'll be more careful to license images properly. Hope you have a great day!
Pete 17:12, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Hello Derbeth. I notice that you have removed a number of images from this book. I presume for incorrect copyright information? Is it possible to see what these images were so I can attempt to recreate properly licenced versions? Thanks --AdRiley 14:36, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Would you check on this image please? - Mike.lifeguard | talk 02:36, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Username change
editHello, I'd like my username to be changed to sepiatone. I'm trying to keep my contributions to all Wikimedia projects under one username. Thanks! Dilbert93 07:12, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
I do apologise for not getting back sooner - I am more active on Wikipedia. I'm w:User:Sepia tone. Do you think sepia tone would be more appropriate? Let me know, I'm fine with either.

Another Upload
editHi Derbeth,
I have recently uploaded a modified image. The original image is from the Wikimedia Commons, and the author released it into the public domain, unconditionally. I added text to the original image for use as a wikibook cover. A few months ago, you asked me to make sure that I use the same license as the original author. The original author, User:Gorgo licensed the image as "own work; public domain," so keeping this license required me to claim that the image was my own work.
This is confusing, and I certainly don't want to abuse the wiki community, so I wonder if you could tell me whether or not I am ok this time.
Thanks for your help, and have a great day!
Sorry, I forgot to mention that the name of the newly uploaded image is "Derived from Moraine Lake 17092005.JPG"
Usurpation Mania
editI'm sending this message to all our current bureaucrats, User:SB Johnny, User:Derbeth, User:Withinfocus (and myself).
If you take a look at WB:AN, you'll notice that we've been swamped with username usurpation requests because of SUL. This isn't even the half of it, my user talk page as well as Mike.lifeguard's are being loaded with them as well. I've been handling the majority of them, I've seen User:Withinfocus handle a couple as well. This volume of requests is likely to stay steady at least, and may rise as more users find naming conflicts.
I'm thinking that we need a more organized way to do this, at least temporarily. en.wikipedia has a nice model to follow, they have a dedicated rename requests page (several, actually), and they use a series of templates to create a lot of links to help the bcrats out. w:WP:USURP is the page, I believe. I would like to create a discussion page (Wikibooks:Reading room/Administrative Assistance/Renames is an option) where all rename and usurpation requests can be directed. The page can contain some basic instructions about how to request a rename, and maybe a few basic rules about it. I know we don't have any "official" rules yet, but maybe it's something that we can think about doing. This is another page on your watchlist, and more procedure, but it would help to ease the work flow a little, I think.
User:Withinfocus and I have already had at least one disagreement about a rename (it was very minor), but maybe it's worth coming up with some guidelines as a group? If we have a few points of consistency, that might help to streamline things a little.
Also, considering that bcrat-related activity is in a spike, and some of our current bcrats are less active here then they used to be, I think I would like to seriously field some new candidates for the position. If anybody has any comments or suggestions about this, I would love to hear them. --Whiteknight (Page) (Talk) 05:30, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- I created a page for this purpose (probably temporary) at Wikibooks:Reading room/Administrative Assistance/Renaming. I don't think we need to "enforce" it's use, but it should help to de-clutter WB:AN a little bit. --Whiteknight (Page) (Talk) 13:40, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Cascading Style Sheets
editHello, could you please delete Cascading Style Sheets, so that I can move CSS Programming over there? (So that the history of CSS Programming page is not lost.) Thanks. --Dan Polansky (talk) 07:40, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
JavaScript/Contents
editI would like to move JavaScript/Contents to JavaScript, given the use of "/Contents" is not the common and recommended practice at Wikibooks. Am I right in this assumption? And if I am, can you please delete JavaScript, so I can move the thing? --Dan Polansky (talk) 12:10, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you, and thank you for the explanation on my talk page. I personally think that the cover pages with a picture are of little use, and that the main page should better feature table of contents, just like it does with, say, LaTeX or Rhetoric and Composition. For a printed book, a cover makes sense, but I estimate that online books are mostly accessed in a reference manner, meaning that the readers have a specific question in mind to which they seek an answer; and for this use case, table of contents and index are of most use. Cover on the main page to the exclusion of index increases the click-distance to the useful content. That said, a kind of cover can be present alongside the TOC, as currently seen at Rhetoric and Composition. --Dan Polansky (talk) 19:08, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Can you show the original message from Flickr?
thanks for your quick response. how about this one? http://www.flickr.com/photos/crystalflickr/1618832555/ i got it from the category of Creative Commons Attribution License from Flickr. But there is no sign of Creative Commons License from the site of the photograph. Can I use it? And, can you give me some suggestions of where to find free images for the wikibook? i'm a new user. Many thanks!
You are so::: helpful, and efficient too!!! Oh, another thing. Could you delete all these images from the server so that nobody will use them by mistake? I will delete them from my wikibook. Thanks!
JavaScript/Cover
editI would really like to see the cover image with the ladybug removed from the TOC of JavaScript. The image has no bearing on JavaScript, and it contains the pretentious text "A great book". That is intellectually dishonest; I've rarely ever seen anything of the sort in commercial publishing, if at all. Also, "WikibookS" is obviously a misspelling of the project name "Wikibooks"; "Javascript" is a misspelling too, so is "WikimediA". And a book on JavaScript would need a portrait format, not a landscape one. I have explained that at the talk page of JavaScript.
My disagreement pertains to what I have stated above; the place where you placed the image is IMHO perfect, combining the quick availability of TOC with the presence of eye candy. --Dan Polansky (talk) 13:34, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

changes of the Listen template
editHi Derbeth! Although I like the changes you did to the {{Listen}} template, I've undone them because they break my use of it in the Spanish by Choice wikibook. Could you implement these changes in another way (e.g. with an additional parameter) such that the current uses of the template are not affected? Thanks! --Martin Kraus (talk) 15:16, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
